I was gonna make a smart remark but my Jeep isn't uparmored.

Bumping is a term from the old days meant to keep a thread at the top of the heap.

These days people use a bump as a placemarker so they can find the thread again by looking at their pings.

Threads used to be listed with the amount of activity and replies associated with them. "BUMP"ing it would help inusre the topic or article would be noticable. Now its just used as a bookmark for people to return to when viewing their own remarks.
