Individual was likely from the central US...specifically the 5th Army area. The second digit being 7 suggests this. My two uncles in WWII from Kansas were both numbered 37 and later early in the Viet Nam conflict my service number started with 17 (being enlisted rather than drafted) during the Korean conflict, my brother was a 55 due to being drafted.

An individual's complete service record is available to the former service member or, if deceased, to his/her next of kin (parents, spouse, or children). Limited information (such as dates of service, awards, and training) is available to anyone. Not available to the general public is information which would invade an individual's privacy; for example, medical records, Social Security number, or present address.

This looks like as good as place as any to post this:
I'm looking for any WWII veterans that fought on the island of Peleliu, or their family members.
I own 118 original photos' of the battle. They range from D-day to the end of the campaign with sealing up caves with the sea bees.
I've had the photographs put on CD-ROM and send them to veterans or their families, free of charge.
If you are a veteran from the campaign, or relation to one, please contact me.
