How do you get rid of the smell when your computer's power supply lets out all its smoke, and no longer functions?
I may have to break down and get a scented candle or something to mask the stench for a while.

Good thing I had a spare power supply - back up and running in 15 min.
I'm now off to the store to find a candle...

Following the hurricanes in Florida, Home Depot was carrying a product called "The Gonzo Odor Eliminator for Dorm Rooms" for about 5 bucks. Hey, if it can handle a dorm room, it can handle a little smoke. The UPC is 0-10572-97120-2 and is made by Gonzo Products of Cleveland, Ohio. After a week of no power, a house baking in the hot Florida sun can get pretty ripe w/o A/C to control the humidity.

FWIW Try a citronella candle. It will make you forget the smell of burning electronics.

Actually, lighting several plain old matches in the room and then blowing them out after they burn a few seconds is usually good to eliminate about any odor. Wave the match around so the smoke will disperse in the room. - Hint to all bathroom users around here. Candles are good, but they tend to suck the oxygen out of a room. One candle lit in a room for 45 mins. emits a lot of VOC's. I always crack a window when I burn a candle in a room. (It gets expensive buying new windows, but candle burning is a luxury after all.) Snort. :>)

Been there myself. Buy one of those cheap room fresheners ("good place for a stickup" -- kinda thing), put it *inside* the computer case, and close it up. By the time the scented gel disappears from the freshener, the nasty burnt smell will be gone too. And, bonus, your computer room will smell like ... well ... like a stickup for a month.

You need to force it to vent smoke properly, where it belongs. Take your case and new power supply out back, plug it in and turn it on. Then hit it with a garden hose for a good ten minutes. This way, the smoke will be outdoors, instead of inside your house.

If it was a French power supply the smell will never go away. You should be able to tell if its French - look for the hair under the wire harnesses.

Y'all have some interesting ideas...
For now - I have a candle going - it's one made from a soy based wax - those are supposed to put out a whole lot less soot and stuff.
I'm going to try the stick-up thing - will pick some up on the way to work, and put one in when I get home in the AM.
Thanks for the tips.

Regular Cinnamon. We used it to stifle the stench of the bone cans in the meat market. Those meat scraps would get ripe before the rendering co truck would make a pickup.(once every two weeks, every other Thursday). Cinnamon works better than anything else we tried.
