Can you figure approximate what it costs a week for you to feed one of your average size horses (not pony:) when you have to feed hay and grain?

Using the feed I use it's around $15.00 a week per horse. I've never thought that was too bad.

It's not more expensive.... by much... and it is tidier, I'll grant you that. Not sure what's keeping me from trying it... except that I am not sure they have enough roughage in the pasture, especially this time of year. I guess maybe they don't need it, they have more grass here than I think yours do! It's just a mental block.

Quick estimate of our costs (the pony doesn't eat a lot less hay, only less grain, so she's not a lot different and it's easier to figure the math as a total.

Our costs at the moment with the current hay supplier:
Per weeK:

+$24.50 ($3.50 per bale x 7 - using a bale a day)
+$10.00 (That's one bag. may not use that much, more like 3 bags/mo
=$34.50
/3 horses.... that's $11.50 per horse.

You know, I have no idea. It will take me awhile to figure that one up. I know I spend alot on shoes for Tuffy. He has that broken back hoof pastern axis and needs corrective shoeing every 5 weeks. All of my other horses are barefoot.
