Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads . And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?
This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.
Darn it Hair! I started to post something on your hot coco piture and got a "hot, personal" pop up.
I get Nova and space stuff from yours:') How's sugar?
You've got spyware that has nothing to do with my hot cocoa!
And just for the record.... my hot cocoa will not make anyone pregnant either ;~D
I think was Tuffydoodle (spelt right?) that said just a wee bit if alcohol and look what happens 3 weeks down the road, and then i mentioned the laughs you were having and maybe the cocoa was spiked and then my warped sense of hunor just went crazy from there.........put it down to the kids arriving home and me looking after two elderly parents who buzz me all day with their needs ! LOL
James has just booked us a weekend in the blue ridge mountains and arranged care for his parents. Boy am i ready for it and my hot chocolate WILL be spiked!~ LOL
Yep.... you're right! it was! Thank you for reminding us of the risks!
Any news on still-pregnant horse? Have you had time for any handling training of Adge yet? We'd love to see more photos!
Aren't we demanding? ;~D
How great for you to get some respite relief. That is great for you and I hope you'll have a great time.
just plenty of hands on at the moment, what with James back I have been busy taking care of all 48 animals and the kids and his parents! As for photos.........yes you are demanding! LOL I will try and get some together!
I love looking at the horses, but one great thing about all the photos is that i get to see what some other states look like! I have been in Georgia (of course), Tennessee, South and North Carolina, Alabama and Kentucky so far.
I am looking forward to heading west one day!
We need them if we are to live vicariously through you. :~D
Just got home,,soooooo sleepy:)
The sun is shining beautifully. Ice melting. Even tho it is not above freezing yet it doesn't feel bad. I need to go feed, but think I'll snooze a few minutes.
Hate to say this, but I'm missing the joke??? Can someone explain:) Are you expecting?
Becky
Hell no! LOL!
alcohol came up in the subject and Tuffydoodle just mentioned that 3 weks after feeling "warm" from the "drink" she got a pregnacy test! Well after that Hair posted lots of mugs of cocoa and my addled brain was sure all the happiness was from spiked cocoa..............just my warped sense of humour coming through!
I need that break badly...........and i think of spiked cocoa cause mine would be! LOL
Oh, OK. I'm slow with jokes:) Sorry.
Also sleepy.....zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...

I love guinea pigs:) My dad was never an animal lover of any kind. We never had much more then turtles and gold fish. Then, I think I was about a 6th grader and a friend of my brothers showed up at our house when our parents weren't there. He asked if we wanted a guinea pig. We took it:)
Dad let us keep her. She was so cool. She ran loose so much because we played with her so much, that she actually became potty trained. Always went on a throw rug by the back door, and lived under a little foot stool by the fridge. We had to learn to open the fridge door only one time while clearing the supper table because she thought she should have a carrot everytime it opened. She'd run out and squeak till we gave her one. She also would come curl up by us at night when we laid on the floor watching TV. We could turn her cage upside down in the grass so she could be outside in the sun. One neighborhood cat use to come and sit and watch her. She'd squeak loud then too, till we would come run it off. She was a really neat pet, and my dad even got where he liked her. Enough that some years later he brought home a dog for my mom. Of course by then Sugar, the guinea pig was getting older (how long do they live anyway), and thought the house was hers. I didn't think it fair, but mom found another home for Sugar because she would bite the puppy, when the puppy wanted to play with her.
Funny thing about Sugar, when we first got her, we thought she was a he. Named her Butch. Once day she was sitting looking out the back screen door and the big door caught a draft and swung shut on her leg. Mom took her to the vet. Her leg was just bruised but he told us that Butch was a funny name for a girl:)

My son also had a hamster that was a huge sucker and mean. I finally bought him a companion. Turned out to be a she. We had, had him a few years and he loved her to death.
My daughter had guinea pigs when we lived in England. I went to Switzerland to see my sister and when I got back my husband had bought her two guinea pigs. Unfortunatly something about them makes me lose my voice! I told him about that,a nd he just laughed and said he knew and that one of the pigs was pregnant so Emma would have lots of pigs and he would have a quiet wife!
He built an elaborate 3 story high cage for them with a 16ft run!~.....almost put his bed in there! LOL
well i need to go and dish up supper. Have fun.
May I have one of those cups of hot chocolate? Looks yummy.
