Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads . And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?
This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.
They need a vet because they are athletes and they have injuries and illnesses, same as us. I've never used one, but I can see the value in horse chiropractors, we are particularly dependent and hard on the back of a horse, and fixing backs is what chiropractors do. There may be very little difference between a shrink and a trainer sometimes, but I don't believe in psychics.
No - you get that way to save wear and tear on tack, to be able to find something instantly, and judge the size as you're walking up to it. :)
Well if my horses had a problem maybe, if my vet couldn't fix it. My post was meant lightly. No shrinks or pyschics though. I could have saved that rich lady a lot of money. All she had to do was smack that little dog when he tried to bite her and pop him with that mail he wanted to chew up.
That TV animal spychic woman is the only animal show I refuse to watch, even when Gidget is begging for Animal Planet. ;~D
Oh good, you're back. I thought maybe I had offended you about the chiropractor remark. I was told this in sincerity and I just had this vision of me in one stall and the horse in the other, laying on our bellies on shavings:')
funny thing is, I think most people who go to chiropractors are wasting their money. They get worse, I think sometimes.... but people have reported success with horse chiropractic for soreness and stiffness... who knows, maybe they are just as nuts ;~D
Damn it's cold here. Just came in from feeding....Brrrrrrr:)
Choctawsquaw has a cousin who had a chiropractor work on his horse. Made the horse worse.
Beckkkky
Sorry:), I'm shivering from cold:)

I see it as with anything else. Some horses may have a serious problem that can be fixed. There was a horse at the stables that resisted putting weight on her back leg. Now the girl is riding her so that's good. For some is it just a back massage for their horse and a status thing though? Time will tell, I guess if it's just a fad.
She hasn't been around in awhile! Did she lose interest in us?
I've been hearing alot about chriopractors for the lasst..LOL..few years. I think it's a fad too, but I have seriously considered it for my mare. Nothing to lose with her.
Becky
ROTFL!
She lurks alot:). She knows alot about whats going on with all of us.
Becky
Can I add a shot of whiskey:)
Becky
Maybe she'll check in and let us know what's new with her!
Wish she would:)
