Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads . And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?
This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.
Oh my gosh, I just clicked on your link and it's the place where I bought the saddle, Bucks County Saddlery. I've bought 3 saddles from them. Nice people and always treated me fairly.
lol. How's it going? Details important. I forgot the = once and fussed for 2 days and was ready to throw my computer out the window awhile back.
Give the guy what he wants and he disappears on you! Hmmmmmmm. ;o)
So typical.
Isn't that the truth.
While we're waiting on Keith's supposed pictures, I've got some more of my bunch if ya'll wanna see 'em.
Yes! Pictures:')
You know a while back I was telling ya'll about how Blade decided to kill Bob when I first put them together...Well, Here's the pictures...
It started off like this... "Help me!"
Tennessee was just watching at this point...
By about lap 5, he had to get in on the act....
By Lap 6, they were running through bushes and jumping over stuff as you can tell by looking at Blade in this picture. Every time Bob would run by he'd look at me like "don't just stand there, DO something!" I tried to cut Blade off to catch him but he was having none of it. He was like a horse possessed...
They both finally went over the fence. Bob cleared it, but Blade didn't and ended up in a heap on the other side. Bob came to me and I got a halter on him before Blade got up. Then Blade got up and was looking to go after Bob again, but I finally got him caught too before he could get to him. It was an eye-opening experience. Never put 2 young stallions together that haven't been raised together 24/7 or you'll have a bloody mess.
It's going to take me a few days to figure it out. Us cajuns ain't the brighest candle in the swamp cabin.
Good job Beaker! Thanks!
A very scary kind of excitement...
Glad neither of them got seriously hurt.
No problem.
Uhummm, excuse me ma'am but I don't recall seeing any photos posted by you.
The pictures have to be online someplace. There are free places to load pictures, and www.snapfish.com and www.yorkphoto.com both work really well, and have an easy interface for loading pictures. They are free for a year, and they only want you to buy something once in awhile to keep your account, like prints or a mousepad with your photo on it. They have cool stuff to buy, but you can worry about that later.
Anyway.... upload the pics there, and when they are uploaded, right click the pic and view the "Properties" of the pic. Right click on the web address 'url' for the pic, 'select all' and then 'copy'. Then paste that code (all of it, they can be long) into this 'image source' html code:
<img src="http:\\url here">
The code to post one of my earlier photos:
If you were to right click the pic above, the properties of the pic are all this gibberish: http://images.snapfish.com/33%3B8748323232%7Ffp63%3Dot%3E2329%3D%3A3%3A%3D768%3DXROQDF%3E23235%3C5996677ot1lsi
when you type the img src code, it looks like this:
<img src="http://images.snapfish.com/33%3B8748323232%7Ffp63%3Dot%3E2329%3D%3A3%3A%3D768%3DXROQDF%3E23235%3C5996677ot1lsi">
It sounds complicated, but take it step by step and it really isn't.
That's fine for now! We're happy to have it. We may lighten it a little when we post it.
There is one that we always meet on the beach at St. Simons. His owner lives a few blocks from the beach and brings the dog out to run EVERY day for an hour or two just so he can live with him in the house. Shelley was overjoyed to find a dog who liked to run as much as she does . . . the GSP was surprised to find a Lab who could run him off his legs . . . they chased each other up and down the beach for an hour or so, we just stood and watched them go.
Go to the who's who page.
"Isn't that the truth"
LOL We ladies know what's what in that area, don't we?
