The FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread - Thread THREE!

Posted on 12/30/2004 7:01:16 PM PST by HairOfTheDog

Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads…. And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Well she's a big solid mare so it may be awhile before she really shows.

Yeah, we've had foals in the past, but it was never anything I really looked forward too. I was anxious while waiting for Dot, mainly because it was Belle's first, and I was still using Belle at the time. I hadn't really wanted to breed her, but a few people told me it might help her problem, and also her momma was a buckskin, so we thought we'd have a good chance getting a buckskin.

Foaling did not help her problem so I landed up retiring her from use, about 3 years ago. This is her first one since then.

Good news, and great pics... A May baby will be fun to play with when we are there to visit in June! How old is she? We'll add her to your page.

Ok, I've gone back and looked at what I missed while I was gone.

Not to change the subject but Becky, don't you ride a motorcycle? At 7 o'clock there is a show on the discovery channel called "Motorcycle Women". The description on the guide says "Six women from diverse walks of life embark on a tough ride." Sounds interesting.

Boy, Dot's a carbon copy of her mom. And you're right, she doesn't look bred at all.

Hey, I was checking out the who's who page, and it looks great. Good job. I've been out of the thread loop, though, and catching up on posts. Almost time for me to make dinner. Did a lot of shoveling, we got 8 more inches of snow. I'll have to dig out some horse pictures. Really don't have a lot of them anymore...

I really like your stud too.... He's just really nicely put together, and great color.

Is your Dusty mare roaning out more each year? she looks like an appy I knew that did - pictured below... He started out really red like her and ended up very light. Just a little red left on his leg in this pic. the year before he still had a bit on his shoulder.

Dot doesn't have as much red in her coat as Belle, but other then that, they could almost be twins.

Can you tell me the post number with the link for the who's who, or post another one. I can't find it to check it out.

Thanks
