Thread Four: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/1332664/posts |

Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads . And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?
This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.
Oh - I am happy! Happy to finally see what you mean! I have never seen an edema like that, and you are right. It does look like a tire. Thank you so much for going to all that trouble so we could see it. I definately would have been concerned to see that.
Cute pictures of Adge. He looks really healthy.
Wow. That is odd looking.
Becky
FWIW, aside from the edema, Sugar doesn't look abnormally huge. I don't think you need to worry about a monster huge foal.
No, he didnt say it was normal, he felt it and said it was fluid. This is why I have been describing it as a "tire"!
He said it should go down after she foals.
Sorry about the state of her, she was brushed and all nice and then decided to roll and plait her mane! : )
How great. Okay, I have to take some pictures and will send them to him - few days though before I get it done.
Yes.... we only need them there for an instant, and ecurbh will load them to his server.
Well, I tell ya, you learn something new everyday. I'm glad you posted the pic so if I ever see it again, I'll know what it is.
I think she looks lovely. Uncomfortable, but lovely.
I was just getting ready to post pictures of my ride yesterday, so I'll send a few to post on the who's who.
Becky
Yeah, i knew how frantic you must all be without pics : ), It was so hard to describe the "tire" without saying "tire" ! LOL She looks a lot bigger in real life, much much bigger than Misty was. Now you can see why I was concerned with her belly.
Adge is doing great and feeding off mom and also mom and foal feed and also hay. DJ says to tell u all he has a "firm little kick too" LOL I missed that getting the pics!
They all kick ya at least once or twice... then they learn they can rear and paw at you. That's a fun game for them. Luckily they mostly try this when they are small, and you can outpower them. Important to do the early halter and ground manners training while he's only this big.
Thankyou so much : D, she is my favorite, she is not papered and is the one that we rescued, she is a plodder and the first horse I have ever been comfortable around. She has given me a lot more confidence.
DJ touched her belly like the vet did and she didnt seem to mind him at all. I dont think she liked the vet one bit!
I have never seen edema like that. I have seen it in the legs but not like that. Now I understand what you were trying to describe. She's a beautiful mare by the way. she's got a halter on, what was the vet's problem anyhow? It's difficult to tell with her coloring and the swelling but I think she has dropped down.
The other two look great. Thanks for posting the picture.
I'll post one of Rocky in a minute. I've got a good one in the ones I'm loading now.
Becky
DJ says to tell u he was working on the ground manners this morning! LOL
Heh... It's fun to work with them while you can still chuckle at the struggles.
Do they ever induce horses?
I would imagine they do, when needed. Never been around when it needed done.
Question from ecurbh.... what are the names of the palomino horse and your daughter?
