Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads . And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?
This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.
This is Mighty Bright
Yes, her udder is her milk bag. You may find the mottled skin in both places. Guess the photographer at the Appaloosa Horse Club didn't want to crawl under any horses :)
She and Cindydawg doing pretty good for a mutt's life wouldn't you say?
Funny. I was just under there and I can not remember the color.
Where would she get the bigger head from though?
You can join me in dreaming for something spectacular.
She doesn't have a big head. That picture of Mighty Bright is a stud - thick jaws and if I remember right, he had a lot of quarterhorse breeding.
That's from Hildalgo? I loved that horse.
That's it :)
So he really wasn't a mustang?
No I don't think so. I've never seen a mustang that looked like that. I don't really know though.
I guess they figured only horse people would know the difference:')
I'm probably going to end up missing Sugar foaling. :(
Click for story about the horses.... Visit the story of Hidalgo in American Cowboy magazine's March / April Issue
The horse that I had that I hated:), was marked alot like the one in Hidalgo. Same colors.

Good morning.

Good morning, no foal as yet, getting breakfast out of the way in readiness to be with the vet. We'll "report" in later after he has come.

Duchess, can POA's be registered App.? If a POA had a solid colored foal, can the foal be registered POA.? I know the ones I've seen always look appy, and everyone says their apps, but their ponies. I just wondered.
The POA up the road that I told you about, suddenly in the last few weeks is looking pregnant. I heard thru the grape vine that the horse had been bred back, but they were'nt for sure. So now this beginner lady, has 3 unbroke horses.
My neighbor who is telling me about them, said the owner was trying to lunge the yearling yesterday and it kicked her. She was just letting it run, because they look so pretty running, I guess it kicked out and got her. Not serious, thank goodness.
