Thread Four: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/1332664/posts |

Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads . And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?
This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.
I've got both of them and they are well used. I agree, they are excellent books.
And I am going to guess, you forgot the camera. tsk. tsk..
I wanted to ride his daddle but my stirrp straps have extra holes to bring them up. His doesn't and they would have been way to long.
You know, I've had that explained to me a lot of times :) I just have to keep apologizing to God.
As I recall, it is mostly medical, growth and nutrition, which is valuable... but as for other books that are mostly training, I've flipped through a few good ones but can't remember the titles.
with DJ as my husband.......... I have to worry : D
I had it but no photographer:')
For a minute there, I thought you were saying something obscene... ;~D
Your trainer doesn't have a hole punch to add holes to his saddle?
crossing fingers:)
Becky
That is what is sooo cool about riding bareback - you can really feel the horse and anticipate what it's going to do. After awhile, it gets easier to get on and off and more comfortable to do. I never ride that way anymore because my husband has a fit but I sure do miss it.
I take it nothing is happening? Is she still down?
Becky
I like Starting a Colt but it's western discipline. The Foal to Five Years has the training broken down by age and progression, it is English but still all the basics are great.
Yeah but she wanted no excuses and me on the horse. Daylight running out. Even if she punched the holes though she couldn't reattach them. She has a worker that is going to help me with it Thur.
My thoughts exactly LOL
Once I got my leg over it was just like dismounting. I could actually feel her breathing. When she decided to take a dump that was a little to much closeness though:')
LOL
This is very nervewracking and I've quit cleaning my pantry in the middle of it.
I think horses need mirrors attached to saddles though. We stopped for awhile and I was no longer sitting center and her backbone by my hip. The owner looked at her and laughed. She told me she was standing on 3 feet and leaning:')
Yeah. I think it's a way out there though.
