Thread Four: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/1332664/posts |

Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads . And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?
This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.
On that chaotic note, I am going to hit the couch....
Good night everyone. ;~D
For some reason we keep getting baby formula samples in the mail. Funny, at our age, huh? Instead of throwing it away tonight we put a scoop in Cindy's nightcap. Yall think it might be too rich for her once a day?
Guess it depends on what's in it. Does it have a nutritional label?
Just a little protein/fat/carb/vit/minerals. She gets a a bowl of warm milk with an egg at bedtime. Just a little something special for her bones and muscle wasting.
Don't see how it could hurt her. It's probably fattening if anything.
Just seems a shame to waste it . My vet really doesn't think much of her eating people food but she's old and it makes her happy so....:')
I've always fed my dogs people food. My doberman didn't like tomatoes but she loved everything else. Can't feed the minpin much in the way of scraps, she gains weight terribly and is on diet dog food :)
Well, this was before she broke her hip and was eating every meal with us. She used to love to go get a hamburger at the drive thru:') Now she has lost a lot of muscle in her hip. I put her in the garage at meals but she still gets scraps. Right or wrong when I was a kid we never bought dog food.
I have limited her cookies though, her favorite. I told her if I can't eat them she can't either
LOL
Good morning
Becky
I had a doberman named Storm who used to love strawberries and beer.
Good morning. It's warmer here. In the low 30s, to high 20s.
MAN! And I thought I was being robbed. I only pay $45 and that's with new shoes or without.
I see some here on this thread that pay more though. Are there a lot of horses where you live? There isn't around here and ferriers are few. Maybe it's a supply/demand thing.
Ok scratch that. It's 20 degress out. Feels much colder than that too.
Our farrier charges a different amount each time I think... partly because he can't remember what to charge, partly dependent on his personal cash flow at the moment I think. ;~D
I pay around $50 when our farrier just resets Bay's shoes and pads, $75 for new, and he usually resets once, sometimes twice, in between.
Our farrier grandfathered the pony in at $15 trim barefoot, and I think he's charging $25 for Cyn's barefoot trim.
