The FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread - Thread THREE!

Posted on 12/30/2004 7:01:16 PM PST by HairOfTheDog

Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads…. And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Well, I've done neither so it's hard for me to compare. Both sound cold, wet and up before day break though.:') Welcome.

Joshua home. Thanks for your prayers. I knew what to expect but it still hurts when it's your own. He's tired and his face swollen and his arm bruised and he's says his eyes "silly" but he's waking up. I have a picture but I didn't know if I should post a "sick" pic or not. That's a total of 4 teeth pulled and the rest capped. He's going to need braces to keep his permanent ones in alignment but at least it's over.

My husband and I had a big argument when we bought our lake lot. He wanted to put out corn in the yard and build a front porch (deer blind) and I guess watch the game and drink beer while he waited.

5 going on 35 the 25th of this month. He has (or had, I guess:'( very small , brittle teeth. I guess it's hereditary because his dad does too. My DIL was afraid it was bottle related and scared that she was going to get in trouble. Our government shouldn't put fears like this in parents. They did nothing wrong. Both boys raised the same and the baby has large teeth and has never had a cavity. She was ok, once the dentist reassured her.

My 5yr old great-nephew had to have all his teeth capped too, but that was a year or so ago. His WAS bottle related though. My niece was young and just apparently didn't know not to put him to bed with a bottle of juice. She's been much more careful with her younger daughter. Live and learn I guess.

Silly big kids though. They drove up and the baby could hardly sit up and told me they were taking him to the park because he did so good. I asked my DIL if she felt like going to the park after she woke up from a C Section. They looked at each other and brought him in the house.

Correction.....It's Norton Internet Secruity that I have. Firewall, Ad blocking, Antispam, Parential Control. It's pretty cool, and came with 15 months free with this new Dell.

Only thing was I had to reinstall it, because I was not getting updates.

She saw him laying there and just stopped, scooped him up, threw him in the trunk and took him to the taxidermist on a whim.

LOL.....That reminds me of the movie Beverly Hillbillys, when Granny Clampett scooped that road kill squirrel up. Did you ever see those beautiful end tables, coffee tables etc. with the stuffed animals and wildlife scenes in them?

This ought to be a good time of year to go though.

Plans are for the first of April. School will still be in session, so it might not be as crowded.

Yes, I've seen those and they are pretty. I think Cabela's sells them around Christmas time. They're kinda like a little mini habitat with what ever natural elements the animal would be found in. They're pretty darned pricy though.

Can't ya just lock the little one in a stall? ;~D
I've seen it done. The stall was an unused clean one, and the kid thought it was a riot. Pretended he was in jail because it also had a barred window. It worked for a little while. :-)

My friend Bob did it when he was the daycare for their toddler and he had to feed or move horses around! It was safe in there!

My dad has a buck's head mounted on the wall. All during the year it wears his cowboy hat, except for christmas, where it gets a clown nose and santa's beard.

It was safe in there!
And it works! :-) Dogs, kids, it doesn't matter. Keeps them out of the way, and lets you get barn work done without having to worry about where they are.

Well with this one he would need lunging first and maybe a couple of pair of those hobbles. They are right the opposite. The oldest is my leech and doesn't think he can plan by himself. I always know where he is but he wants entertainment. The youngest. A few seconds of loving and he wants down to explore his world. You can not take your eyes off him.

I could have taken him with me but that's my relax time ....best to just wait.
