The FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread - Thread THREE!

Posted on 12/30/2004 7:01:16 PM PST by HairOfTheDog

Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads…. And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Firefox is great. I've been using it since about version 0.6, back when it was called Firebird. Or was it Phoenix?

Still in Florida. My contract may possibly go for another two years or more down here.

You may have less visible trouble with Firefox, but I would still have your hubby or someone take steps to get the spy ware/adware off your computer. It can really slow you down and make other mischief.

I like that free Microsoft antispyware product I pinged you to. I think you'll want to use IE to ever download it though, because it was reported to not work well with Firefox, which isn't surprising really ;~D

Firefox is great. I've been using it since about version 0.6

I started using it a few months ago on my Wintel box at work. I've been using Apple's browser, Safari, on my Mac at home for the last few years. It's a lot like Firefox (or Firefox is a lot like Safari) with the tabs and no pop ups.

I think what's she is saying is that I just put a bandaide on my problem and it's still in there somewhere. Right Hair?

You don't have to delete Internet explorer, and you can still use it. Mozilla is in your task bar? Is there an Icon for Mozilla on your desktop?

It's working , so far...

That's good. Some like it, some don't. Do a search on FR with keyword "computers". You will see a lot of pros and cons. After I downloaded SP2, the pop-ups stopped. The firewall did prevent me from playing games on-line, and I do have to disable that when I play. Before that, when I downloaded one of those pop-up blockers, all I got was pop-ups tell me they blocked one..lol

Right... the spyware/adware that was causing you problems was designed to work in IE.. It's still there.

Yeah. It just showed up and I've been clicking on it instead of yahoo. I'm checking these other links out too but this one was easy. Can't do anything else right now:') I'm keeping the two y/o while the other at the hospital today. He's very high maintance. I have him barricaded in my room with me and he's playing at my desk. (I have lots of toys and he prefers mine to his).

This picture was taken in front yard on New Years day. It didn't turn out real well so I'll have to try again on the next trip home. I'll fire the photographer while I'm there.

He's been there since 8 and they are supposed to start at noon (any time now). My son thinks it will take a couple of hours but I doubt it. Procedures don't usually take long. It's the getting set up that drags on and gives families long waits.

The big kids fibbed though:') They told me Cody would sleep until 9:30-10 and get sleepy about 11:30 and nap at 12. Yeah right. He was up at 7:30 and sitting in the chair channel changing right now. I'm not as strict a grandmother as I was a parent though. What ever keeps him quiet and happy. He wanted french fries and ice cream for breakfast. It really wasn't bad:') His momma can do her nutrition thing when she gets back.

Yeah, it's open. This picture if from the top of the stairs in the loft. The kitchen is under the loft and the dining area is to the left of the fireplace.

Nice lookin' cabin ya got there Cowboy! The stonework is beautiful, especially the porch column supports. I like the way they get wider at the base.

I like your decorating sense. All ya need now is an elk mounted over the fireplace. A guy I bought a broodmare from had one that was gorgeous, but it was WAY too big for his house. The base of the sucker's neck was about 5 inches off the floor and the antlers touched the ceiling. He also had a full body black bear mount, a huge timber wolf and a cougar. This guy was SERIOUSLY into big game hunting, but he was about to run out of house to display them in.
