I'd have lost right there, I'd have gotten off to walk up to him and led my horse past. Big yellow streak up my back around four wheelers.
I asked my husband and I forget how much they were but we were going to set up a 12x12 with a gate and I think it was around 400
I think our regular steel panels are about $65 per 12 ft panel, but the gate panel is more, I just don't remember how much.
Well I would have have got kicked out too caz Sarah Lee gets "tired" I would have had put a portable O2 tank in my saddle bag and tape a nasal canula under the reins to her nose:'). Maybe give her a breathing treatment at each rest stop too.
LOL - I can just see that.
I haven't done it yet because I don't know how those two would do together that close. I wanted to put them in a stall to see but my trainer said she would rather I didn't.
She's actually much better. Worming and groceries really helped. When I first got her she was huffing and puffing and would actually groan when you got on and sigh when you got off.
I think getting off was acceptable, you just had to pick the safest side to go past it on. It was not running too, BTW.

I wouldn't put two horses in a 12x12 pen no matter how well they get along... it just isn't big enough. You should plan on two 12x12s.
It reminds me of a football game I was watching with Eddie several years ago. I don't really care much for the sport but I guess it stays in my memory because I'm a nurse. Anyway this guy had the ball and fumbled. The other team caught it, juggled and lost it too. It kind of fell into the arms of this huge blocker from the original team. He stood a second and then started trying to fast walk. His team mates run and catch up and get ahead of him and motioning him to come on. A guy from the other team hanging on to him as he huffed and dragged him over the line. Then he collapsed and they had to bring him oxygen and drive him off the field on a cart:')
Well, we'll see! Right now I am most eager to just get a trailer so we can ride for fun.
I did see that the club around here rides out of the very familiar state forest trailhead that is about 6 miles away ;~D
Downside of that is that these organized rides are a good way to discover ~new~ trails. :~D
That's why I haven't done it yet. Sarah Lee wasn't in the picture at the time. I might have been able to calm my neighbor with one pen, but two....
They can be adjacent and share a common panel, but they can't be crowded together like that. 'fraid somebody would get kicked.
Well I don't know when I'll get the chance to take them anyway. We are going up this weekend to check things out but the "kids" staying home.
Well, a connected 12x24 would look like one pen still ;~D
What was unsafe about the dismount, and what are they looking at for a perfect mount?
That's true. I still need to check with the county. If they say ok .....
Years ago I found a horse trailer sitting in a pasture - ugly black thing with dryrotted tires. I asked the owner how much he wanted for it and he sold it to me for $600.
I filled the tires with fixaflat type stuff and drug it home. We sanded it down, pulled out the rotted floor, repainted it to match the truck and put in new flooring. I sold it for $1200 years later when I got a divorce and had to give up all my horses.
If you're up for the elbow grease, you can reclaim one on the way to the junk yard (just about) for not much money.
One 12X12 really isn't big enough for two horses - they could get hurt unintentionally. I don't even like my mommas and babies left in a 12X12 very long.
Well, the thing is... we need the truck too. I just have a small pickup. We'll be trading ecurbh's car in on a truck which will be much more than the couple thousand dollars for a serviceable trailer. ;~D
I need a slant load or a stock trailer, Bay won't fit in any of the older straight loads, and I'd really like a three horse. Just for extra room.
