It wasn't silly and I can relate. It's best IMO to be safe and call the vet if you aren't sure and I would always call about warm/sore feet or lameness. To learn, I used to (and still do sometimes) read a lot and ask questions too. My problem, was that there are so many ways to get things done and I was trying to do everything because these authors "experts" or I didn't want to make a mistake or offend anyone that was trying to help me by not using their suggestions and I got even more confused and frustrated. I could get advise at my stables from 10 different people on any given day and each one would have a different way to do something:') Then I could go home and read my books for even more suggestions:') Big Time overload. You just have to get comfortable in your own skin I think. My rule now if that if most people telling me the same stuff, I listen closely because it might be a safety or very important issue if all doing something the same.. The other things I read or hear I try, if interested. I have learned some really neat stuff this way. If it works for me. I continue but I don't worry about everything with my horses now like I used to. Poor Okie was my "first baby" and he got the works. Now ...:')

Oh, and how's my riding coming along. SLOWWWWWWWWWW steady progress:') That's my personality though and works best for me. My husband rides circles around me but I don't care. He's the hare and I'm the turtle but you know who gets to the finish line first:')

I got a lot of those looks the day the vet came to look at him. I swear ,if when I have some knowledge I will NEVER look at a new horseperson with that look.

Isn't that funny? I have told myself I too hope I never treat a new person the way I have been treated by some of the "cowgirls" around my place. In all fairness though some really nice people have helped me but it's just that clique. I think I'm finally starting to get passed it though. Maybe they are impressed that I keep getting back on. Who knows? I wanted to take the water hose to a group of them one day as they sat "oh mying" as I tried to get my horse on a wash rack. Women seem to the the worst. Guys tend to seem to like to teach. Oh well. I just blubder on:') As for my vet. He's cool but he has known me for a long time. My personal doctor there and learning too and I get a lot of encouragement fom him also.

Have you done a deep scan on your computer with Ad-Aware? And are your spyware definitions up to date?

The horse owner's vet. handbook is great. But mine has a red jacket. The picture there must be a different edition.

Yeah. It clears and when I open back up here they come. My husband not having this problem. My son gets on mine though and gets into all kinds of stuff and my husband thinks he picked up something even though McAfee shows no virus but I did have 3 when we installed it.

You need a firewall. What do you use as a web browser? I've been having a lot of trouble with the network that I'm on too, so I feel your pain. I just installed Zone Alarm. It works famously.

It's getting harder and harder for this Association to 1)find places with that many miles, and 2) people to work the ride. IT takes a tremendous amount of man power to put one of these on.

But I think its' the best sport that ever came along. I did it for 5 years on my mare. Traveled a 4 state area. It was fun. Since I retired her I've had trouble finding a horse that would work for me.

It seems to be very similar to the AERC

http://www.aerc.org/

The AERC has a lot of rides around here, 20, 30 and 50 miles. Is there some sort of a problem between the two organizations in that they don't use the same trails or vets?

My foal is due between May 8-12:) Can't wait. I'll be taking the mare at the end of THIS:) month to the vet to make sure she is still in foal, if so she comes home, to get her off fescue. If she is not in foal, then I will do whatever I need to too find the problem. She lost one 2 years ago. This is her first foal since then.

Just a point of interest.

I just talked to Celia, the girl I got Okie from. She has a full brother to Okie, but they are as differnt as night and day as far as attitude and build. Same coloring tho.

She's been leary of getting this one, Sky, broke. He is alot more high strung. He's 6 now too. She has 2 other horses also not broke. She found a trainer that likes Sky, needs a roping horse, and will take him in trade to break her other two. She's very excited. I'm excited for her too, because I've hated seeing her horses wasted they way they are.

For some reason a while back she was breeding her mares every year, and now is horse poor, and really has no time to do much with them. This seems like a good way to get something done with them. One of the ones she has is a really really nice guy. He's actually the youngest one of all of them. She has done more with him herself then the others, as he just has that laid back attitude. I just hope he holds up. I'm don't know if joint ill, the illness foals get thru infection from the umbilical cord, can do any permanent damage. He had it pretty bad, was very lame. Seems fine now but not sure if there will be problems when he starts working???? anyone know???
