I agree - Favre not showing up the last 3 years probably didn't help. I don't think Favre gives a toss about the pro-bowl - he wants another ring or two.

Donovan McNabb qb rating: 103.8
Michael Vick qb rating: 76.6
Daunte Culpepper qb rating: 112.2
Brett Farve qb rating: 90.4

Just fyi.

Perhaps because he has thrown too many interceptions. Not to mention that he has been to the PB plenty of times, it is nice to see new blood. Vick and McNabb are their team's MVP's, and Culpepper has done a heck of a job. If any of those three had been excluded instead of Favre, they would have had just as legimitate a complaint as Brett.

Don't be so greedy.

"Vick is having a 'good' year, but 13 TDs to 12 INTs isn't exactly great and the NFL is saying these are Pro Bowl stats."

On THAT basis, 13/12 is NOT 'Pro Bowl' stuff, and the Vick selection appears to be "style over substance."

OTOH, even IF stats are to be transcended by "charisma" and "presense," then why in the world is Favre not there?

Vick would not have a complaint. He has only thrown for 2200 yards, his QB rating is abysmal, and he has 13 TDs to 12 INT's.

I am not disagreeing with you about McNabb and Culpepper because they have the stats to be their, but I do not think that a player like Vick (don't even worry about playing injured; he won't even play healthy) deserves to be a Pro Bowler.

Greed has nothing to do with it.

Vick is overrated, big time.

Just because he is a running back who can throw, he makes what look like spectacular plays. Why don't the Falcons just run the option like in college?

Trust me, the way he plays, Vick is going to get injured big-time, and he will have a very short career. McNabb and others who used to scramble had to learn to play in the pocket -- the only way to win and stay in the NFL.

Well what about Tom Brady?

These are the NFC selections.

There are a lot of qb's with better arms, but Vick, McNabb bring the extra dimension of being a dangerous running back too and that is where Farve is behind. But you did not post running stats or sacks, or rushing first downs.

I think this is a travesty given he already cost one coach his job because he refused to play when he was able.

Did I miss something?

randy moss got snubbed, too. the pro bowl is a beauty contest, anyway.

and besides, by the time the season and the playoffs end, favre is usually too banged up to play. I think I'm more irritated by Ryan Longwell.

When Reeves was still coaching the Falcons and Vick had hurt his leg, Vick refused to play even after he was medically cleared and Dan Reeves called him out on it. The media and Vick turned it into Reeves was trying to save his job at the cost of Michael Vick's career.

After the total lack of professionalism he has displayed, I am definitely not a Michael Vick fan.

>>He is our generation's Johnny Unitas, Bart Starr, and Roger Staubach all rolled into one.<<

Oh, please. Farve's been a great NFL QB, but this cult hero status and best ever comparisons need to stop, and stop now.

Farve has ONE NFL championship, while Unitas has three, Staubach two (with two near misses), Starr has FIVE, and the latter three won championships or got to the Super Bowl in years where they may not have had the best team. Staubach lead the Cowboys to Super Bowl 10 as a wild card, and Starr won the Ice Bowl year. Unitas won championships over a period of over a decade.

There's elite QBs like the three you mentioned, Bradshaw (mainly due to 4 rings), Montana, and Elway, with a few I've forgotten about. Farve ranks with the best of the rest category, including guys like Aikman, Young, Greise, Stabler, etc., but he isn't even the best out of that group.

Great QB? Yes. HOF? Probably. Elite (All time)? No.

Sorry.

side note.

I was watching an NFL film classic about Stabler. The guy would stand in the pocket like a statue for 9-12 seconds. Any success Stabler had was because of lineman like Upshaw and Shell.

Did you see his TD run against the Steelers in the game where Harris caught that rebound pass for a TD?

Stabler had some incredible offensive lineman. I think 5 of them that played in front of him at one time or another are in the Hall. But let's be honest here: could you or I have had his completion percentage with the same OL?

I was a better linebacker than QB, so I doubt it for me. How about you?

Good Grief!

And Dan Fouts and Dan Marino have NO championships, does that make them any less great? Dick Butkus and Gales Sayers never won a championship. Barry Sanders never won a championship. Give me a break!

All are great great players. Farve has AMAZING resiliancy for a quarterback and is a tremendous leader over many years and is destined for the hall of fame. I stand by exactly what I said. He is one of the great quarterbacks of our time.

You have your opinion and I have mine.

You said, "He is our generation's Johnny Unitas, Bart Starr, and Roger Staubach all rolled into one."

That's not true as a statement of fact. As an opinion, its silly.

>> And Dan Fouts and Dan Marino have NO championships, does that make them any less great?<<

To be honest, yes it does. Both rank closer to Fran Tarkington than they do to the three you mentioned above.

>>Dick Butkus and Gales Sayers never won a championship.<<

I suppose you rank Danny White up there with Marino and Fouts? This is a TEAM sport, and TEAM wise, White has more accomplishments than either.

>>Farve has AMAZING resiliancy for a quarterback and is a tremendous leader over many years <<

I don't disagree with that.

>>destined for the hall of fame.<<

You're probably correct.

>>He is one of the great quarterbacks of our time.<<

Top 15 at best.
