Is it ok to feed my cats raw bacon?
Posted on 12/24/2004 11:51:13 AM PST by little bus
One day, my cats were hungry and I didn't have anything in the house to feed them except raw bacon. They loved it! I continued to give them raw bacon each day and now it's their favorite food (they won't eat raw sausage, though). In fact, now they don't want anything else. I've tried different foods on them - vienna sausage, potted meat, canned mackerel, etc., but they want their bacon. Someone told me this might not be good for the cats, but they seem healthy. What do you think? I see cats on this sight sometimes when I surf, so maybe you know something here.

My cat eats a pound of raw liver a day. I used to cut it up for him, but he prefers to gnaw on one big lump. How bad am I?

You joined today, started a thread about feeding your cats raw bacon, and never replied? And this is your one and only post on FR?
Fascinating.

Maybe not such a good idea....sodium can cause problems. Some friends fed their cat mostly canned salmon. He died. Urinary tract trouble from the salt.

All this raw tal reminds me of a cheer I learn many years ago:
Rip their faces,
Slash their jaws.
Make their faces,
Raw, raw, raw.

Once we got a dog from a breeder who fed all of her animals a raw meat/vegetable diet. She gave us the recipe and a supply of the concoction.
The vet told us to throw it out.

Strong ale is swell with raw bacon.
Häagen Dazs is better. My feline, Herb Katz liked to dine on pizza and Häagen Dazs and lived 19 years.

I always wanted a scenicruser (like the "official" one in such nice shape posted above) since I was a wee young'in.

I love sarcasm, but sometimes people get p!ssed, so I often suffix a remark with: /sarcasm. Its overdone. In fact, I think I am one of the first if not the first to do that. It was funny when we all knew it wasn't needed.

OK, let me say it another way: your chance of being infected by trichinosis by eating commercially prepared bacon is the same as being abducted by aliens from outer space...You just scared a significant group of freepers.
