How Spyware Took The Next-Gen Threat Crown (On The Internet's No #1 Threat Today MUST READ!!!) -- My own opinion is that anything that takes over your private computer without your informed consent should be illegal and that anyone distributing such programs and those paying to have it distributed (the engine that drives this train) should be held criminally responsible. A politician who would undertake such legislation would have an instantaneous, nation-wide following... a political hero (are you listening out there?)
Browser Wars -- Broadband Firefox users should try ForecastFox 0.5.8. It will put the Weather Channel forecast of your choice in the taskbar. Completely customizeable (I selected the three-day, day-and-night forecast for my ZIP) and totally cool.
Now that you have changed to Firefox, go to this thread to help you out.... if you are on a Broadband Internet connection.
Free Help here:
Currently I'm running pretty safely with Adaware, Spybot, Firefox, AVG, Sun Java (people forget this upgrade) Zone Alarm and a router. And I deactivated ActiveX for all but Windows update.
Some recommend Xandros 3.0. Windows like and the easiest Debian Linux distro for newbies to install and maintain. Even all the names have been changed to make getting around the operating system as painless and familiar as possible. In addition, with the Deluxe Version, you can run Windows applications with Crossover Office.

Microsoft To Release 13 Patches Next Week -- I used to have 8-15 instances of spyware a day before switching to Firefox. The number immediately went to zero. The other day, I opened up IE because a video file I wanted to hear wouldn't play on Firefox. I was on less than 5 minutes. Took that long to get zapped with 14 cases of malware, along with a Trojan called 17.H which I'm still trying to get rid of--and that's with daily updates and scans of my AV and Adaware/Spybot S & D, and my firewall (Outpost) running constantly as well. Firefox rocks.

Deleting Spam Costs Billions, Study Finds -- Frankly, at this point spam has gone from being an annoyance to literally becoming a purposeful attack on computer networks and should be treated as such. The government should be going after spammers the same way they go after virus writers.
-- Yesterday I put a trial Barracuda Spam Firewall between my Symantec SGS 5420 and Exchange server. From all appearances the spam hits on the server immediately dropped and the torrent of "No Such Account" emails to my Bad Mail Folder stemmed to a trickle. --

Firefox makes Internet Explorer look like kids stuff.
Anyway, re: the weather link, Firefox has a nice plugin that puts the weather forcast in the corner of your browser in the status bar - very cool and out of the way.
Load it up - you will dig it (and have no need for a weather tab!)

Let me drop out of Lurk & Link mode -- my personal opinion?
These writers and propagators of garbage code need to be hit so heavily they don't know what whacked them-- triple fines, jail time, and public whipping in the town square.
No, I'm not kidding.
It's not funny anymore-- they are wrecking the web experience for everybody- not to mention the actual damage some of this junk does to data and equipment.
Fine 'em, lock 'em up, and frog march 'em to the town square where they live.
Strip 'em, whip 'em, and chain them to the whipping post for a week with a pair of manicure scissors so they can trim the grass one blade at a time.
Make 'em wear a shirt with "I was a CyberVandal" on it.
I am so deadly serious about this. These vermin are ruining the web for everybody besides them-- it is time to stop it, dead.
