The Hobbit Hole XVIII - Though we pass them by today...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Posted on 12/20/2004 9:01:36 AM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Though we pass them by today...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Except for the horses and foxes, folks round here do the same thing.

Nice shootin'.

hardest part is guesstimatin' the range... when yuh gotta target that small, two yards is the difference between a miss and a kill...

Yep that is it exactly!! It was quite humorous to read that scene...it was a fox hunt that he and Stephen went on and where both of them really took notice of Diana, I think. What event are y'all talking about? I know they just banned fox hunting in the UK...

just finished watching M&C...

I love those old George Wright paintings, I think the guy was a master.

There's alot of his stuff here that won't link, but very worth a look, I think you might enjoy it:

Those are cool. I think when I make any more decorating purchases, it might be on a foxhunting theme.

Morning G'nad, Sam, Overtaxed-

g'nad - we can sure do something about that, we can discuss at your convenience.

Sam - got another tradganger coming over this a.m. He works nights so it's his evening, our morning. Got a few bows under his belt. May work on his latest project, don't know what it is though.

OT- looks like yellow face may be making an appearance. Bout time.

It's still mid-30's in the garage. I guess the pipes will be okay as long as the heat's running.

Gotta get a pet door, though.
