The Hobbit Hole XVIII - Though we pass them by today...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Posted on 12/20/2004 9:01:36 AM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Though we pass them by today...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

You know, when she kills you for the insurance money. The crime will be untracable, she'll go into mourning for a year or so, then "meet" some other guy. But at the wedding, a lone figure will stand and say "I object!" and then reveal the single flaw in her cunning plan that lead to her downfall...

And I will use the experience to launch a series of detective novels. Of course I'll fictionalize the whole thing... invent a great detective... I already have his name all picked out: "Quincy Archer, Private Eye".

Heh... was thinking of Kim Stanley Robinson's trilogy of books about the terraforming of Mars, collectively known as "RGB Mars".

I take it you've given up on anime and switched to Matlock...

Ah, no, it's been a while since I read those and I didn't love them so I didn't catch the reference.

There's pics here (below) too, of the wedding.

Wow, great wedding, great pictures. Hair, you look like Rosie Cotton on her wedding day. (Bruce doesn't look much like Sam, but maybe he doesn't want to) Many best wishes and all.

Thanks O.T. Congrats to you on your new H.H.

*snif*

I just figgered out that's the same weekend as Jr's youth production. And we had just decided, more or less, that we'd all make the road trip. That ain't gonna work.

It may just be me flyin' in.

Nope! It's the Agatha Christies and Sherlock Holmes and Brother Cadfael stories I read as a teenager (and reread). Not to mention the ill-spent childhood pouring over Encyclopedia Brown, The Three Investigators, and Hardy Boys. Mystery would be my favorite genre if there were any modern mystery writers that I liked

And also the anime I'm watching right now is a detective show....

But you think you can make it for the weekend even if Jr's thing is going on?

Try Microsoft Photo. Increase the gamma a bit, it might work out.

Nice shootin'.

Whew, so I'm safe for now. Unless there's something she hasn't told me.
