The Hobbit Hole XVIII - Though we pass them by today...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Posted on 12/20/2004 9:01:36 AM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Though we pass them by today...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I didn't see that anyone replied to your message. Did you get an answer?

Does elf-boy's doctor have a message service? i.e. could you call and have the doctor paged to call you?

Oh my Suzi. What an awful thing for parents to have to deal with.

I'll pray for healing, and for peace.

BTW, I keep meaning to ask you also, how's Madelyn Diane? (do I have the name right?)

Jen,

I have a Pittsburgh area question to ask you.

Wife met with one of her former students yesterday. She's a freshman at Geneva, wants to do drama. She's having a hard time finding a church because the churches in the area are ~so~ Christian Reformed (no musical instruments, etc.). So she's taking a car back so she can find a church to drive to.

Do you know the area around Geneva well enough to freepmail me some suggestions for her?

She wants Reformed, but not ~that~ Reformed.

Thanks

I wish I did but I've never been near Geneva. I would recommend that she checks out any local PCA church. All of us use instruments and some even have hand-raising.

One hand, for no longer than two verses and the chorus.

I prefer hymnbook churches... no need to worry about where your hands go.

Hand raising?

The almost-but-not-entirely-frozen chosen?

Doesn't have the same ring to it.

No, I will get charged a fee for non-emergency calls.

The good news is that I probably won't have to worry about it, and will just take him in tomorrow. The last Motrin he took was at 4 pm, and his temp just now was 99.7 F. WooHoo! I think the fever broke, finally. Maybe it is too early to celebrate this, cuz his temp might go up in the night, but for now, it is a good thing. His temp has been over 101 F all day, with medication.

Poor baby. He has not been sick like this for a very long time. Thanksgiving 2003 was the last time he had anything like this.

I had better put bittygirl to bed before she takes over the keyboard.....

She walks, she talks, she crawls on her belly like a reptile.

The Mostly-Frozen Chosen. Me, I'm more a deep-freeze type.

Mmm, had a nice roasted cornish game hen for dinner - found them on sale a while ago, this one was left over. Makes me feel rather neanderthal to pick at the bones.

Mmm...bones...

I can't find all the dogs' paperwork. I suppose I can mail it. I don't have anything critical anyway...and I know I can get shot information from the vet's since I have to go in sometime soon anyway for the cat.

But I'm fretting anyway.

Also fretting because deep down I'm still thinking I'm not going through with this and therefore this frightens me. Plus Fiona at least knows something is up and is following me around looking at me anxiously. Gah!
