The Hobbit Hole XVIII - Though we pass them by today...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Though we pass them by today...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

On the other hand....seeing those furballs roll across the floor triggers the "critical mess" signal quicker so I vacuum more often.

Our furballs are being trapped by the 50 million files I have stacked on the floor. I really hate tax time!

Rose: "I'll never let you go"

Rose, later, as she wrenches his frozen hand from her own: "Goodbye, Jack".

"Decrapping".....has Dwarvish overtones. "Flylady-ing" is much more genteel.

Ain't gonna be nuthin genteel about the de-crapping at MY house!

So...are the flames for the garbage, or for them what wants me to take theirs for 'em?

I'm learning where the popular out-of-the-way kitty places are as I'm going here.

I never realized quite how much they must like the back corner of my bedroom closet.

I could almost build my own cat...

As an aside, we have plaster walls. We had to take a couple of walls down and discovered that one of the ingredients used in the plaster was horsehair. Don't know why, maybe it helped the plaster stick together.

Had a neighbor, "Crazy Bob", who plastered his walls and used his two labrador's fur sheddings in the plaster. The new owners, after he died, came in and took all those walls down!!

Heh.

Both my sister knit and they bemoan the fact that you can't spin cat fur. I believe one of their friends has successfully spun dog fur, though.

Well, I'm back. A truly wonderful experience. I'm guessing bout 500 tables; all filled with wonderous delights. Just about anything you could want or need was there. Didn't find anything that tripped my trigger, so to speak, enough to dig out the dinero. There was much visiting and the occasional oooh, ahhhh. Dang, when did that get so 'spensive. Now for some restful contemplation.

Not too dang much melting going on. Branches and blades of grass all still encased in their icy sheaths. Neighbor is maintaining his typical attitude of "I didn't put it there" as his reason for not picking up a dang twig or branch, even to the point of parking in front of our house since he has branches where he normally parks in front of his house.

when I was stationed at 29 Palms, used to go down tuh the Pomona Fair grounds twice a year fer the big gun and knife show... 5 miles of tables... everything from the latest gear and guns, reloading, to militaria, to antiquities... if'n it t'weren't there, it didn't exist... events like this had the SoCal gungrabbers screamin' blue murder... heh heh heh...

yuh know, a valve stem remover comes in mighty handy from time tuh time... and if'n yuh don't want tuh be subtle, bury an axe in between his runnin' lights...

Sounds like the Tulsa Show - if you don't pick it up when you first see it, you'll never find the right table again.

One display I think you'd liked. Military Winchesters including our favorite the '97 Trench, and several 6mm Navy Lee's. USMC apparently used 'em for a while. One photo of some Marines with them in China circa 1900.

Some fine Kentucky's were to be had. There was also great leather work on holsters. A few of these guys are really getting good.
