The Hobbit Hole XVIII - Though we pass them by today...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Posted on 12/20/2004 9:01:36 AM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Though we pass them by today...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Hehehe, I learn from the best. Since I won't be here to spam for 4k or possibly the 4-4s, thought I'd get in some preemptive spamming.

I really oughta go to bed here but I'm not tired.

Nervous energy, most likely.

Watching the end of The Usual Suspects here... was that the one you said you figured out early on...?

The one with Keiser Soze? Yeah. Too many Agatha Christie novels in my teen years. In amongst the Heinleins... it's a good thing I didn't go to public school, I wouldn't have had time to get educated...

One day you need to see Fight Club... see if you can figure out the twist to that one before it's revealed!

Didn't know there was a twist, there, but I will definitely give it a try sometime.

Well, I'm really off. Maybe. Good night.

You'd think that one thing they could do with DVD movies is play the movie with rating-edits in place.

That would be helpful. Jr. wouldn't want to see Titanic now, but we've never let him watch it because of the boob scene...which was totally unnecessary for the plot of the movie.

Don't get me wrong, I suspect he's seen his share. He just doesn't want to see them with Mom and Dad in the room. And I don't want to provide them for him.

We went back to Blockbuster and that was the only version they had. But I asked and they assured me it was mostly language and violence. They were right. A lot of sexual language, but nothing too embarrasing visually.

It's a darn funny movie.

Good Morning!

Well, it's an MP3 of a 1930 recording, so...meh?

OTOH, the only time I've heard it with tapping was on The Muppet Show, when K the F tapdanced to it...

...he really, really did...

Morning G'nad - never saw the movie so couldn't comment on the scene in question. Still ice covered here as the weatherweenienes were wrong with warm up yesterday. Sunday looks good, 50's, need the ice off the trees afore I commence the cutting and trimming.

Guess I'll 'have' to go the Gun Show instead. Sigh. Well, there may be a hidden treasure waiting to be found, or not.

Yeah, there is two good ones a year up here, both put on by the Missouri Valley Arms Collectors Assn. Of which I are a member. Lots of displays and good dealers tables. None of the flea market stuff allowed. Lots to see and a good deal of visiting with folks you only see once or twice a year.

The next one is in July, last weekend. If you and the nad family care to make a trip of it....

Morning OT - you and the rest of KC will be doing the same, I'd take a good book for the wait.

Mornin' folks.

'Nuther rainy and warmish day here. We're gettin' a late start (mmmmm...eggses and cheeses...nice crispy bacon...). But we're finishing up the de-Christmasing of the house and straightening out the garage.

It's pretty much just a crap exchange. Christmas stuff goes to the garage. Office stuff goes back to the office...

~theattic~ is next weekend.

Gots a cast party for the Christmas production tonite. Figgered out a few years ago it just made more sense to wait until the set was down and life was gettin' back to normal.
