When I was little, my parents went to a big New Year's Eve party every year. I think it was sponsored by the Knights of Columbus in our Parish. They didn't miss one year that I remember! We always went out and shot fireworks at midnight.
Since we've had our own kids, we didn't feel like dragging them to any First Night activities cause it was usually TOO COLD, so we always stayed home. We fed them early, then did Chinese and champagne at midnight. Now that they're all teenagers and older, we STILL stay home, but we all eat together. Last night, we started the noshing around 10, and it continued well after midnight while we were watching ROTK-EE.
Hey Trini!! Nappy Yew Hear!!! :-)
OK... getting into the Bacardi for a change. Cuba Libre!!
Happy New Year! :-) Let's see, this is just over a year after the RotK film was released and the Keepers of the Rings went to the Grey Havens, which would've been the end of 3021 (S.R. 1421), so today would be the beginning of 3023 (S.R. 1423): the Second Year of the Fourth Age! Time to start organizing for the Samwise 1427 mayoral campaign!
Shooting a little shotgun... caught the little plastic lid we were tossing there in mid air...
This is Lisa's Russian M44, equivalent to a .30-.06
Good day was had!

Cleanin' guns now...
mmmmm..... Hoppes....
Cool setup. So what's up with Lisa and her gun purchasing binge? Lisa? Are you there? :-)
Unusual choice of calibers. Is that the 45 Long Colt?
Lisa's gone now.... she traded the SKS for this Russian gun... Why? Lisa's just bein' Lisa. She always buys unusual calibers you can't find bullets for ;~D
Yeah .45 Long colt.
Cool pictures, Hair, you guys look awesome. Good job on the tent thing.
Not familiar with the M44, but it looks like an old design, like from the 30's maybe?
I think it's a WWII era. It doesn't look like much but she could actually hit stuff with it, she set targets up way across the gravel pit 100-150 yards... and was pretty dead on.
That's pretty good, I can't even see stuff that far away.
Miss Cat is out from under the covers now and has had her dinner.
Thanks again for the chocolate spoons and the tea. MMmmmm....think I'll have the tea in a few minutes and chocolate spoons with coffee tomorrow morning.
Good Evening All - "Well, we're back" from the first annual New Years Day Bi-State Mini-Moot.
OT is the most excellent hobbit hostess - in addition to the traditional collard greens, black eyed peas and cornbread, she baked a ham, sweet potatoes and home made apple sause. HMMMMMMM. The desert was a home made chocolate pound cake with coffee. We think Gypsygirl will need an extra long walk tonight. Many thanks OT for your hospitality.
Unlike many of the hobbits, we have a convential camera with film. Therefore, although several pictures were taken, posting will need to be deferred until said camera is delivered to the Camera type store for processing and developing. At that time, we'll be glad to post them.
Glad you had a good time.... We'll wait for pictures :~D
Looks like fun!
Mmmm. Traditional New Year's Day dinner. We went a little un-traditional. We had Puerco Pibil and rice, but we did include the black eyed peas and had greens in our salad. Bourbon Chocolate Pecan Pie is cooling and a Cranberry Swirl Coffeecake is finishing up in the oven. No one has room for dessert yet, anyway, so the hour cooling time will work out just right.
