The Hobbit Hole XVIII - Though we pass them by today...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Posted on 12/20/2004 9:01:36 AM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Though we pass them by today...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Especially if the trouble is caused by a guy named "Bob".

This time it wasn't, though.

Dad went to bed early...

It was the siblings that kept me up late! ;-)

Good Morning Hair - We told Gypsygirl about Homer and she was quite pleased that Homer has found a new home.

Gypsygirl gives a special Merry Christmas wave to Homer and his sister Gidget.

btw, how is the cat adjusting to Homer?

Very happy to hear you have the ROTK EE. I think you'll be pleased with the extra footage and scenes.

The kitty was a little on edge about him (as much as he gets) but Homer hasn't given him a second glance, so I don't think there's trouble there.

Talk to you later... We have to get out the door~

Congrats on thenewneice.

Not to throw a damper on anything but you do realize that the poor child is going to get only half her alotted presents (birthday and Christmas.)

I met a guy last night at my brother's Xmas Eve party who has a bowmaking hobby...he suggested that osage orange is the preferred wood!

The coconut cake is done and chillin' in the fridge. It ain't much to look at, but it'll taste okay. I should have measured the batter before dividing it but with all the frosting and coconut and everything, you don't even notice that the yellow cake half is taller than the chocolate half.

It's definitely not a cake for a low carb diet!

*chuckle* Well, her pappa was born on Christmas day and we have a cousin who's birthday is the 26th. One advantage is that no one will ever have an excuse for forgetting her birthday.

Just put the ingredients for our not-low-carb-rolls in the bread machine. We'll repent in January.

Wow! You got a great surprise! They've redeemed thmselves a little!

We're having a pleasant time here. Finally got all the presents unwrapped. I got some lovely things for hanging on the walls at my apartment, a Hobbit painting I'll have to get a picture of to show you and Mom made me a gorgeous wall quilt. It's a Celtic knot, in greens and golds. Lovely.

Got a couple gift certificates, some adjustable measuring cups, a few knick-knacks, and some little earrings, cheap since I can't wear much in my ears anyway.

Other than the lack of snow, this Christmas has been lovely so far.

That's not the way I understood that birthdays were celebrated in The Shire. :-)
