Network blackout of cut out baby story???
Self | 12-17-2004 | Ralph Davis

In mid-afternoon I saw the spectacular news that the baby cut out of her murdered mother in Missouri was found alive in Kansas. Naturally I assumed it would be top news in the evening news. However when I turned on ABC at 6:30 PM no mention was made of this admitedly gruesome but very newsworthy story--especially since at least there was some good news that the child was found alive. Only on Fox news was I able to find the news conference by the law enforcement officers about this story.

Did I just miss the mainline networks' coverage of this--or did they cover it at all?

This story would be VERY troubling for abortion advocates as legally the woman could have aborted the baby later found alive and well--and an Amber alert was done over what was a "fetus." Actually apparently only after some legal finagalling (according to the news conference) was an Amber Alert able to be made (as a "fetus" didn't qualify according to the guidelines...).

Anyway, I was wondering if some FReepers out there saw network coverage of this--for to me it seemed strangely absent from at least the top stories of the day on ABC.

So did anyone see coverage of the found baby story on the (non-Fox) network news?

Just here. Glad the baby was ok. This child will go through hell when told of her birth when she is an adult.

Democrat Party DoubleThink trumps one of the most incredible stories. These MSM people are NOT reporters, they are hard core falsifiers of the news.

I saw it and also heard the sheriff say that at first whoever it is that accepts amber alerts wouldn't accept it because it was a fetus, he made some calls - would like to know who to - and then it was accepted and thank God, the child has been found and reunited with her father.

It is hard to imagine what evil they'll accept in order to keep their right to kill their young.

It was on MSNBC about a half-hour or so ago.
My TV is in the other room, so I didn't really follow what was being reported in much detail. But I do know that WAS the story that was being reported. I think maybe it was Keith Olberman.

In an earlier news conference, I heard the sheriff say he made a call to Sen. Sam Graves office and the Amber alert was issued after that. It was fairly obvious that the sheriff was "learning on the fly" and information was not as forthcoming as the day went on. Poor guy, he did a great job for being thrown into this horrific crime.

The wrong kind of person cut her out of her mother's body. The 'fetus' wasn't dead, the mother died. This gets so confusing....

It was on all the news channels here in the MY metro area.

On the radio news every half hour too.

Why not turn your TV on......radio too!

Yes, all over the radio in DC too. But like I said, on the main NETWORK TV evening news, on ABC, I didn't see it at all.

I had figured it would be their first story.

Yes, very confusing, but me and my DH talked tonight about this and he thinks that this case will reopen the idea of changing laws of abortion. What I don't get is why they were still calling this baby a fetus once it had left the mother's womb? Is it cause they assumed the baby was likely dead and died as a fetus, therefore never made it to baby status? I don't know, I just can't understand! I thought that fetus was a baby in the womb and baby was baby out of the womb? Misunderstandings like this shouldn't happen and therefore law should change. Why don't we just call the baby what it is, a baby!

That gets into PC territory. The mother could have legally had her late-term 'fetus' aborted in the crudest brain sucking way minutes before a viable birth because that still wasn't a baby, it was legally a fetus.

As it has been said, only a few inches separates a fetus from being a baby, it's a matter of inches of legal location.

Yeah, well that is nuts and obviousy this case proves it is nuts. They can't do a Amber Alert on a "fetus" because it is not alive, yet this baby was alive. So, the Sheriff apparntly got the Amber Alert anyhow even while the baby was still being called a fetus. This means that someone in authority had to recognize that the fetus was a life, and therefore proving Roe v- Wade wrong. Let's hope this case opens the door to over turning Roe v- Wade.

Agreed, and this in a country where birth control is the easiest thing you can find and responsibility is the hardest.

I have friends that have adopted children from foreign countries because there is a shortage with a long waiting list here. There's no excuse, no reason, for any of this.

There was TV coverage on local NBC and CBS stations. As for the fetus/baby question, we could say that the mother--who was in her 8th month of pregnancy--was strangled before her unborn child was cut from her womb.

That is exactly what I thought! Drool is coming out of the corner of Greta's mouth right now.
