Just bought it half an hour ago, but I won't be seeing it for a while. It's a Christmas gift for my husband, so I can't take an early peek.
True enough...
But in the book, Frodo offers him redemption and forgiveness, and then the hobbits off him. The movie makes just as much sense here IMO.
But Legolas seems to do it of his own accord is all...
Fair enough!
Well, he's stabbing the guy. He's trying to prevent it. It's not precisely revenge, but an attempt to prevent Saruman's death, even if that's futile.
We just re-watched this because we'd missed it before. I think that is a great moment. Celebration notwithstanding, there is much cause for worry.
Where is the $%^&* blooper reel?!?! I WANT OUTTAKES AND BLOOPERS!!
SECONDED!
If someone finds an Easter Egg that has Faramir and Eowyn's wedding - which was filmed! - let me know. I don't really care about bloopers...
They do a lot of joking and talking about other use of "lost reels" and 25th anniversary editions....
Sometime down the road, when they need money again....
Perhaps PJ has gone to the "George Lucas School of !@#$ing With Your Films for Ever and Repeatedly Re-re-re-releasing Them." ;~)
There is a LOT that was filmed but never used in all three films. Like:
Moria goblins pursue the Fellowship
Elrond & Arwen in Lothlorien
Arwen at Helm's Deep
Eowyn fights Uruks in the Glittering Caves
Funeral of Theoden
Frodo turning "Gollum"
Coronation of Eomer
Wedding of Eowyn and Faramir

Where's the link about that?
Harry from Aintitcoolnews reported it because he visited the set the day they filmed it.
It might be findable there, I can't stand to read his site ;~D
Errr, well there are no photos, but it is described here: http://www.hdr-see.de/neue_seite_39_e.htm
Where was the marketing department when they were editing this? They could have increased their sales among women just by including that one scene!
I know! Personally, I think they should have included everything. Make all three films five hours long. I still would have sat through them.
(Still think the Fellowship prologue was too short too. Gil-galad who?)
On the other hand, a scene with faramir that I am EXTREMELY happy about is the one between him and Pippin. Harry reported on that one too and it has all my fav Pippin lines in it (Faramir becomes Bergil in this scene)
I would have lapped it all up....
But it ~would~ have meant ~another~ ending...
