ABC13 Eyewitness News (12/15/04 - HOUSTON) A Richmond couple is upset at a Sugar Land pet store they say gave away their beloved Pomeranian to a stranger.
Jana Brown says she dropped off her purebred Pomeranian named Mercedes to a Sugar Land Petco to get groomed more than a week ago, just as she has done dozens of times before. But ...

Yes, both very much are real dogs.
Oops. From the picture, I thought she was a small dog. Our little dog has a dachsund body but the head of a lab. We call her our lab experiment. She weighs about 10 pounds right now but we think she is only about 8 months old.
It'll be 70 again here sometime too.
About mid-May!
Color me jealous, as in bright green jealous.
" A true Redneck would figure out that if it could be put out in the yard, then there would be no reason it couldn't also have wheels. Use the correct sized wheels for the surface to be rolled upon.
Roll it into your back kitchen/garage or formal room and fill it with warm water. When done, roll it back out and pull out the stopper."
LOL!
Now that's Redneck ingenuity at it's finest!
>It seems to me this isn't the first time I've read about a Petco giving a dog away to the wrong people.<
Not that it's a guarantee that nothing untoward will happen to your dog, but it's probably a lot safer to send Phydeaux to a privately owned grooming shop, than to send him/her to some big mega-box place, with high employee turnover. Groomers who own their own businesses get to know their regular clients pretty well.
The owner of the Pom had taken her to this place numerous times. That begs the question of why on earth didn't the person releasing dogs not realize the thief was *not* the same person that dropped her off?
Of course, as has been said earlier on this thread, the safest way is to bathe the beast yourself.
We have a pop load of dogs - english mastiff (so sweet and even tempered, a heeler, heeler mix, a chihuahua, a yorkie-peke-?? mix and two 11 month old yorkies. Paid $500 for Chuhga and $1500 for Usdi Waya. Hubby liked to have had a cow when I got Chuhga and then a whole herd when we got Waya. Now he is so hung up on them. Would kill anyone who hurt them or tried to snatch them up. This is Chuhga when we first got her. BTW, Chuhga means Flea in Cherokee and Usdi Waya means Little Wolf - hwich he's not. He's a lover not a fighter.

It's stories like this one that remind me why my husband and I choose to groom our schnauzers ourselves.
This upsets me. I take my much, much loved Corgi to a local PetSmart several times a year to be groomed.
