Why are coffeehouses over-run with DemocRATS?!?!? (Mod sets bongo aside, zots troll)

Posted on 12/14/2004 11:14:29 AM PST by CarolinaGOPer

I live in a college town in North Carolina, and recently I went into a coffee shop to innocently purchase a cup of coffee. What I instead found was a veritable den of sin, filled with Marxists and DemocRATS. To wit:

-The entire place stunk of patchoulli -Patrons were reading 'Tropic of Cancer', 'The Communist Manifesto', and 'Stupid White Men' -- titles that I would never want my good G*d-fearing children getting a hippie's length away from (of course, not a Bible to be found) -Two women were kissing (of course, I could only tell they were women upon further inspection, if you catch my drift; they seemed to be wearing very comfortable shoes) -Someone was actually playing *bongos* in the corner -The combined annual income of the patrons was less than what I paid for my car

Why is it, dear Freepers, that coffeehouses are controlled by these liberals? Why can't family-loving, G*d-fearing, red-blooded Americans simply get a cup of coffee without having our values completely desecrated?!? Are there any conservative coffeehouses, where this ridicuolousness is not tolerated?

,,, cafes are the new temples. They're where you go to talk about yourself to whoever wants to "catch up" with you. You're either a cafe leech or you're in one to pick up coffee and get out quick so you can get on with paying taxes. The trick is to own one, not patronise one.

See #14.....everybody's trying to get into the act, eh?

Y'all invented the game, I am merely hopping on late. It's too much fun not to join in!

Thanks, btw!

As me old granny used to say, let the babies have their bottle. The Republican party is the true party of tolerance, and I have no problem with lefties reading, listening to and drinking wtfever they please. That stuff keeps their brains soft and mushy so they continue to lose elections.

And stay out of coffeehouses. Go down to the diner and get a cuppa Joe like a real man ;)

Or better yet a shot and beer

They were reading most of the same books when the beatniks started the whole coffeehouse thing back in the late Fifties.

For some reason actual Beatniks have never struck me as being as obnoxious or as dogmatically Leftist as their hippie successors. Or is that just me?

Hee hee hee.

I have ginbread house on the brain - just before I asked my question my daughter reminded me that she needs her bag of M&Ms for school tomorrow (no M&Ms, no gingerbread house) which reminded me she also needs to bring a can of white frosting.

Which no reminds me I must buy another can of frosting foro the cupcakes I am baking for the class Christmas party on Friday.

I've only got one - how are you capable of dealing with the circular logic needed being a mom???? I don't know how you do it.

I have one bright green thumb and one bright blue thumb, from making thumbprint pictures. And I have a can of frosting, but it's chocolate. And tomorrow I need to go to the Girl Scout store and the Hobby Lobby ...

But for now, I'm sitting in front of the computer eating chocolate covered popcorn.

Obnoxious? Verbally, no. But they dressed in black, smoked like chimneys (including weed), and didn't use deodorant.

Dogmatically Leftist? In those days, dogmatic leftism was to support the civil rights movement and moan about the unfairness of capitalism and The Man.

The sexual arena hadn't quite opened to politics yet -- although the beatniks slept around as much as the greasers did. Admittedly they did it with more style.

Whoops, that reminds me that I need to run the dishwasher! The kids have been making cocoa the last few days, and we don't have any clean coffee cups for tomorrow!

Not all coffeehouses are bad.

There is a nice Christian one nearby with Christian bands who have talent and can really play their guitars!

I know several conservatives who frequent coffeehouses as well. I will sometimes go with them, but get hot chocolate.....not a coffee drinker.

I tried mousse once, and spit it out.

I thought Styling was the brand name of some company in France.

OTH...what would Moose mousse taste like?.....Oh!...Waiter!

Probably why the decent Christian coffeehouse I mentioned does not open until 5 p.m. anyway.....the people who come come to relax in the evening since they are either at school or have jobs during the day.

I don't know about coffee houses, but when I worked in a pancake house, we had two Jamaican guys who did the dishes, and had really cute accents.

I think people that feel the need to be empowered by taking down things they don't like are pathetic.
