How would you rate the ethics of our legal system

Are the Police and Courts doing a good job, are we still protected by the Constitution or do Judges and the Police make their own law.

On a scale of one to 10, about a four. Think of how many people are convicted by over-zealous, don't care about the facts, think only of my career prosecutors. Look at how many people are given the death penalty incorrectly. Look at the child abuse witch hunts and the Gerald Amirault case in Massachusetts.

While I agree with the death penalty in principle, I have to say that in a lot of cases, it appears to be just another government program gone bad.

Are the Police and Courts doing a good job...
That depends on perspective and is so subjective as to be rhetorical. A person wrongly convicted of something would obviously answer NO. A person who "feels" that "justice was served", whether truth was or wasn't served, would say YES.
These should be stand alone questions. (this is a question isn't it? no ? at the end so it's hard to tell)

...are we still protected by the Constitution or do Judges and the Police make their own law.
AGAIN, that depends on perspective and is so subjective as to be rhetorical. A protagonist of Roe vs Wade would say judges do make law. A proponent of Roe vs Wade would say they simply upheld the Constitution.
Yet, someone standing on the provisions of the 9th and 10th Amendments will be laughed out of a courtroom so being "protected by the Constitution" is still under question, even in our current world.
Rhetorical questions aren't good questions.

You have to ask one of the Moderators to do that, not random posters.

your say: Rhetorical questions aren't good questions.

I say: the value of any questions is based on the reply to the question.
No opinion is not a reply to a question.

The difference between talkers and doers is decision making and taking a position until new information requires the decision maker to change.
