TR, thanks for that "Wake Up" call. I didn't just get up - been up since 5:00 a.m., but just got HERE!

Heard Reville every morning for the first 11 years of my life, and, of course, Taps every evening. We lived across the street from Ft. Sheridan. Whenever I hear either one now, I am taken back to that long ago time.

We also had a siren at 12 noon and at 4:30 p.m. The city did this. I assume - at this late date - that not everyone had clocks.

Ain't things changed. Just think what the ACLU could do about that siren! (or with it!!)

Just forget about the inappropriate, unwelcome *S* event on your birthday and have a marvelous day.

Happy, happy birthday and many happy returns of the day.

Thanks hon :)

Ya know, isn't it sad that saying "Merry Christmas" has almost become an act of defiance!!

The other day when I was sitting in Jen's hospital room, a supervisor of something or other came in, and when she left, wished us a Happy Holiday.

I replied back...Merry Christmas.

She immediately turned around and said....a bit sheepishly....Merry Christmas.

Then she apologized and said, almost in a whisper, that saying Merry Christmas has become so controversial, she usually only says it when someone else does first.

Good mercy!!...what has our nation come too!!!!??

I'm glad to hear kitty is home. It's not fun at the vets, as both my girls told me, when they had to stay "THERE". Lishan would put her paws on my face and tell me all the horrors she went through "THERE".

Good mercy!!...what has our nation come too!!!!??

You'd better grab the edge of your desks before you read what I am about to tell you.

In the local paper we received in today's mail was a report (and a picture) of a Live Nativity Scene, SPONSORED by a City Council in a town about 20 miles from here. CITY EMPLOYEES played the various parts,,, including the City Council members and the MAYOR.

The town is Kalona, Iowa. It is in Northern Washington County, less than 20 miles SW of the People's Republic of Iowa City. Kalona is a conservative community, and home to about 300 Amish families who live North of town.

I am laughing in delight as I type this. Take THAT Iowa City.

Emily Jane is MOST beautiful, Guennie and King Arthur! God bless her always!!!!! Thanks for sharing the picture. Seeing a picture of her at least once a week would be really nice. Okay?

So glad to hear Jen was released from the hospital. She'll sleep so much better in her own bed.
