New South Park episode tonight - Cartman's Incredible Gift

The original Red Dragon was a Michael Mann production called Manhunter. It was actually pretty good and starred William Pederson.

That's what I meant. I agree, Manhunter was the better of the two, despite the 80's Miami Vice vibe(courtesy of Mann, of course). I can't even remember now if Red Dragon had the reporter in a wheelchair scene or not.

Drawn Together's on now, and again, it sucks. It's being outrageous for the sake of being outrageous. There's no clever subtext or point in the humor whatsoever.

No, there's satire in Drawn Together. If you've ever hung out with Goth chicks, for instance, the Betty-Boop character can be very, very funny. But that's where it's inconsistent... Some characters satirize certain types of real people (Betty Boop), others satirize stereotypes (Pikachu), and others simply satirize "the Real World" (the Disney Princess).

That's in the character setup, and I agree that there's the potential for a good show here. However, what I was referring to was the "sausage on a pizza" storyline. It's predictable, not at all clever, and outrageous just to be outrageous. I'm looking for something else to grab onto, but I'm having difficulty finding it.

A commercial for "The Venture Bros." just came on. Now THAT'S a clever show that I heartily recommend. A Johnny Quest parody of hilarious proportions.

I loved this episode it was so stupid it was funny.

Hey who remembers the episode when the old people took over South Park. There were a few movie spoofs in there I know one of them was Red Dawn but what were the others.

A 30-minute campaign commercial for fetal research, it totally forgot that South Park is supposed to be a comedy. Instead, we got long-winded pontification about how wonderful stem-cell research is.

Oh dear... You sooo missed the point. For crying out loud, Eric talks a pregnant woman who actually wants her baby into killing her infant to save Kenny because she can just make another one.

His only motive is to make money, and only promotes research because he can profit from from all the fetuses he found. And make a Shakeys.

OK - if you don't get that.... Maybe you aren't clear on this. Cartman isn't the hero in South Park, he's the villian. ;~D

I've never watched Drawn Together, the ads didn't do anything for me. I have good instincts about what's good, I guess ;~D

Agreed, last night's episode was a little weak, but following the Paris Hilton ep would be a tough job unless it was the Chris Reeve episode.

No, I get that... Geez, I'm not stupid! But the show did feature about three five-minute monologues on the glory of fetal stem cell research which except for a slight ad-hominem in the last fifteen seconds went unrefuted. Plus, it perpetuated the myth that all stem cell research is fetal stem cell reseach, when adult stem cell research has been much more successful.
