Congratulations on your new daughter!

My first husband and I tried for 4 years to have a child. Tests, tests and more tests. Love making became sex since there was a goal other than loving each other. It broke our marriage even after we did finally have a child. It made us too distant from each other and resentful about whose "fault" it was that we had such a hard time becoming parents.

He's not nearly as bad as PolyCarp and Coleus. They are hopeless. Bless thier hearts.

Chem sets may not be like what they used to be - but at 6 she is still too young in my opinion.

She has a telescope, compass and binoculars.......that's enough science (other than cooking) for the moment.

Daddy has ordered a joystick for her computer and some games...........she's not getting a game-boy or cube (whatever that is) - oh, and the Hotwheels whe wants came today..........

I will remember your response - I just rolled my eyes and said to ask Daddy!!!!

Polycarp's gone. Coleus has good days. Max sent me some advice on fixing up the tagline ... I'll make the adjustments later; we have a Girl Scouts service project this evening, warm clothes for the poor!

Chem sets are for 11 year olds, imo.

The boys have a telescope, but would rather use hubs spotting scope since it is higher powered, binoculars, the microscope, one each computer although Joey doesn't have internet access, Nintendo 64 and a GameCube and GameBoys, DVD player and VCR and two TVs.

What have we done!? They still tell me they are bored on weekends. Sheesh! Go to your rooms! Yeah, that's a punishment.

They are good boys, though and have earned all their nice toys.

There's a difference between "bad situation" and "bad people," but we don't always make the distinction clearly.

PERFECT!!!!

And I guess that is something we should all strive to try and do a bit better.

Thanks for your input about a note to my niece. I just wondered if anyone thought for some reason I hadn't thought of that it would be a BAD idea ~ :o)

PolyCarp was a royal pain. I'm glad he's gone.

First Friday Mass never made me more a Christlike person - it just annoyed me, because it didn't coincide with Religion class, it was usually English or History that was missed.

It wasn't so bad up until about 4th grade.....but after that, well.

I spent 12 years in Catholic schools and came to the conclusion that mandatory (as in no choice) was not the means to make Christlike children who would turn into similar adults.

Well-intentioned, but massively overwrought.

First Friday Mass was okay when you had a lay teacher who forgot to separate the boys from the girls. I got to sit next to my "boyfriend" and whisper. ; )

That's my thing - earning them.

Your boys are older than Jax, so she hasn't earned as many "things." She has a TV and a VCR - I've got the DVD player. She does have a computer with internet access - but there are very strict rules about the access. She shares the phone line with daddy (I have my own) so he has first priority, she can not go on line without permission, she can not go to a website she sees on TV until one of us looks at it, etc.....

If she is sent to her room for punishment, it is punishment because both he computer and TV are disconnected first.

That's too funny!!!!!

No such luck for me.......too many nuns and all grades attended together - boys on one side of the aisle, girls on the other.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who's strick. I have confiscated batteries and unhooked the splitter on the cable. I can't just take the mouse anymore since Bob can use the F keys on his keyboard------unlike me.

We were practically nun-free, except for the Principal. The nuns in college were a different story. They still tried to sort us at Mass.

It was too funny when I was in college, one of the really ancient nuns took a shine to Bob when he was in her Montessori preschool. She was grousing to me about one of the other nuns (my French teacher) who had decided not to wear her wimple anymore. Ancient nun snorts to me "Well! You don't change horses in mid-stream!"

Oh! And she had griped to me about how cold it was at the Convent since they didn't turn on the heat until after Thanksgiving. I gave her a space-heater for her cell. I asked Bob one day how Sister liked her heater and he (he was 4) said, "Well, I haven't seen her with it." I laughed so hard I almost wrecked the car.

The ulimate punishment, which has only been used twice, is to be sent to MY room. We only have 2 cable boxes and the TV in our bedroom is spliced to the one in the family room (she has the other box). To watch TV in my room is to watch what I want because I control the remote from the family room!

We used to just unplug the computer or the TV, but she figured that out. Now we remove power or connector cords. Believe me, it hasn't happened in a while.

I tired of the nuns after 12 years - I went to public school for college and technical school.......

One 'ster had me in her sights for an all girl college run by the same nuns as the HS.........and no explaining my family could not afford to send me there, regardless of the scholarships I already knew I had. My scholarships were only good in NY state and this school was in NC. she just would not back off this one school, even though I was looking at another school that was in Florida.

I gave up and went to the local campus of the State Univeristy and when there was a transit strike in NYC I was able to ride my bike or walk to school.
