There are so many things that make FR great. It's my favorite place on the Internet and I am proud to support it financially.

However, there are a few things that have been getting under my skin too.

1. Jokes about the "72 virgins" every time there is news of a Muslim terrorist being killed. Please. Over the last three years, every possible variation of the virgins joke has already been done. Hundreds of times. It is far, far beyond cliché by now.
2. Jokes about spitting one's food or drink on the screen or keyboard, in response to someone else's humorous post. Again, every possible variation has appeared here a hundred or a thousand times over. I dare say 99.99% of them are exaggerations for comic effect. It's getting almost as banal as the virgins.
3. FR slang (beeber, moose, cheese, hugh, series) in every thread, to no effect at all. At least donate to Jim if you are going to waste everyone's bandwidth like this.
4. Over-zealous moderators who zap cross-posts from DU as soon as they appear. Prime opportunities for hilarity, gloating, and schadenfreude, especially after they lose an election, are lost forever. Can we assess these individually on the basis of their merits?

Yeah, they ban the fool and the geeks continue mocking him for 3,000 posts. I guess they figure he can't fight back, so they just pile on for days at a time. Weird stuff.

I agree with all of yours. One thing that's been really bothering me lately is the use of {snip} in posted articles. this was never practiced at all in the early days here. If someone goes to the trouble of posting an article, why not just post the whole dang thing? Not just what the poster feels is significant, I mean, can't we decide for ourselves without having to travel over to a secondary site to read the entire thing? (and risk getting pop-ups or worse, Adware). Are they just trying to pump up the hits?

How this got started, I don't know, but some posters seem to use it in every thing they post.

Same as how sometimes a banned posted has every post he ever made nuked and sometimes only individual posts are removed when (s)he is banned.

And just to clarify, by "new FReeper" vanities, I meant the ones about babies! I mean, they're wonderful and all, but let's face it--babies are much more interested in ingesting and ejecting glop than FReeping. But I can understand a proud parent's desire to brag about their little ones in *Chat*. I hope that's not too heartless. :-)
