I need the Perfect gift for the Perfect guy- HELP!

Posted on 11/26/2004 11:56:37 PM PST by pumba555

This may sound a little strange but I could use some help from all of you! FReepers are of course the smartest and most creative people I know so I figure that you are a good group to ask this question:

What is a good gift for a guy?! About a year ago I met the most wonderful man. I loved him the moment I saw him and hes been by my side ever since. He's given up his life at home to move to Pittsburgh to live with me so I could be by my family. The best part about this guy... he turned conservative for me and a registered republican :O)

The only problem is he is so hard to shop for! He is one of those guys who is very simple- he doesn't like anything flashy or too expensive and even if he was given a million dollars he wouldn't by a single thing for himself. But I need to know what is a good gift for a guy?? What is something meaningful I could give him or something I could do? Any comments would be helpful. What's the best gift anyone has gotten you? Thanks!!!

He loves pro football. But he already has his Madden 2005 plasystation game and he won't play anything else but that. I've also gotten him tickets to 2 Pittsburgh Steelers games because my parents neighbor is Hines Ward (reciever). Other than that, he has no real interests... very simple guy, just likes hanging out w/ me and my family.

If he's as simple as you say, I wouldn't worry about it. Get him something that matches him, even something cheesy. Simple guys don't care what it is they get as a present, but rather how well their wife/gf understands them in picking for him something that is meaningful to him. Doesn't have to be spectacular... it could be something as simple as a heartfelt letter of appreciation, gratitude, and love. Free, handwritten, and not too long.

Then again, I'm a sentimental fool. Probably one of the last romantics of my generation.

Has he always been a Steelers fan, or did he grow up with another team?

Leave a copy of "Shotgun News*" lying about, watch for drool signs.

*Shotgun News is a kind of a catalog for 2d Amendment believers.

Nothing wrong with that! In fact, its fantastic! Romance is a dying art. And I like your idea. :O) I don't think he'd know how to work a TiVO, hehe. He just got a cell phone about a month ago because I forced him to get with the times. He only uses the computer to check his e-mail and fantasy football team.

lol. He's really into Yeingling right now (or however you spell it, I don't drink much).

He was a Buffalo Bills fan. Now he is pretty much just a Priest Holmes fan (his star Fantasy Team player). He likes the Steelers though, he was at the Steelers v. Patriots games in which they won.

Make him a Christmas stocking and fill it with fun, little retro games and stuff--slinky, silly putty, fun pens and pencils, a 1970 Corvette model kit--Christmas candy, a stuffed animal and one nice piece of jewelry.

:)

He may cry with reminiscence...

It will be hard to top the last presant he gave me. I absolutely adore my dog; a little black and white mutt I adopted from a shelter for abused animals. He went to Build-A-Bear (a store were chilren create and stuff their own stuffed animals) and proceded to go through the embarassment that comes with buying a doll there- giving it a fake "bath" then kissing the little plastic heart that they sew inside. He did this because the little black stuffed dog they had looked like my real god. He then took white-out and painted the black parts that were supposed to be white white and made a collar that looked just like my dogs. He then sewed my dog's name on the butt.

It may sound totally stupid and cheesy but it meant the world to me because I couldn't take my real dog to our apt.

This may sound silly, but I throw it out there.

Download all of his all time favorite songs and make a few CD's for him to listen to. It will cost very little, it is heartfelt, and a guy will appreciate having his favorite tunes all in one set.

I did this for my Hubby's Birthday so he'd have better music to listen to while at work and he thought it was a great gift. Of course I am married to a computer geek, so maybe he was just impressed with the fact that I could use I-tunes without asking for his help!

I don't know your circumstances, pumba, but what about a weekend away..some resort or a lodge in Vermont. My husband always enjoys getting away from it all for a few days.
