Thanks for the heads-up. I really enjoy the road races, and 1995 was before I started watching the NASCAR races. So for me, it will be like watching a brand new race. There are a number of questionable changes NASCAR has made in the last couple of years. I've often wondered if these changes would have been made if Dale Sr. was still around. He always called it like he saw it, and his huge fan base would follow him anywhere.

As a Jeff Gordon fan, I have to tell you that was one of the big highlights of the season, LOL!

LOL, same here. If the race had restarted, Jr. would have passed him in two laps, but his fans made sure that didn't happen. That said, people that throw things on the track should be shot.

Unnngh! Winter is setting in. I actually watched football last sunday, with nothing of real value on instead.

I am going to miss the big Earnhart tribute on the 11th due to a company Christmas party. I hope they rebroadcast it at a later date, otherwise I may be begging freepers to mail me a tape or cd.

Stay warm everybody, Daytona isn't that far away.

Guess, I'll have to go to MANUAL control tonight for the Goody 500...

Talk about WEIRD, seeing all the "old" cars and stuff, bizzaromundo!

I saw Duane Flatmo last night on Leno and the rest of the bunch up there in Eureka. Ya got some interesting neighbors there Mr. B.

Here are the boys in New York today prior to their race from the Nasdaq to the Nascar offices.

Start: NASDAQ building — Times Square Travel south on Broadway, turn left on 42nd Street. East on 42nd to Madison Avenue. Right turn on 46th Street to Park Avenue. Left on Park to NASCAR's New York Office at 52nd Street and Park Avenue.

I always thought Ryan was a smaller (shorter) guy but he's tall and solid, looks like!!

NEW YORK - NASCAR fans will see the top NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series drivers roar down Broadway for an unprecedented "Victory Lap" commemorating the inaugural Chase for the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup, on Dec. 2. The 10 drivers who competed in the Chase for the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup will make the Great White Way the sport's newest road course for a day.

The loud and unforgettable Victory Lap starts at 9:45 a.m., when the 10 contenders in the Chase for the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup will strap into their machines outside the NASDAQ in Times Square. Donald J. Trump, chairman, president and CEO of the Trump Organization, will then say the most famous words in racing — "Gentlemen Start Your Engines" — and wave the Green Flag. The race cars will roar down Broadway, turn left on 42nd Street and finally take a "checkered flag" at NASCAR's New York office on 52nd Street and Park Avenue.

The funniest was that Ryan Newman's engine was smoking and leaking fluid in front of the NASCAR building.

That NASCAR driver report card by Rodman is idiotic. "Winning isn't everything," my arse! One of the greatest coaches in pro football history, Vince Lombardi, said one of the most quoted lines in the history of sport: "Winning isn't everything, it's the only thing."

However, Rodman reflects NASCAR's attitude that winning isn't everything, it's not even important in NASCARland. And now that we have "the chase," even season-long consistency isn't important anymore. The only thing that's important in NASCARland is TV ratings and the loot they bring to the France family.

Well, surprise, surprise! Guess who was chosen the Sporting News Driver of the Year by his fellow competitors? It sure wasn't NASCAR's phony champ. It was the driver who -- gulp -- won the most races, Jimmie Johnson. Here's a link to the article. The first three paragraphs of the article follow:

It was a year like no other because of the inaugural Chase for the NASCAR Nextel Cup.

It came down to the final race. First and third place were separated by 21 points heading into that race; it was anyone's championship to win. Although Kurt Busch held on to first place, Jimmie Johnson — who finished second to Greg Biffle in the race and shaved 10 points off Busch's lead, falling eight short — was chosen in a vote by his fellow competitors as the fourth annual Sporting News Driver of the Year.

"That's cool," says Johnson, who finished second in points for the second year in a row. "That means a lot, especially since it's decided on by everybody in the garage area. You work week in and week out, and you don't know if the accomplishments you achieve are being noticed, whether your effort is respected or what others' opinions are of you. That really means the world to me. That's just incredible. I had no idea they thought that much of me."
