What do you make, besides turkey? My Italian relatives made lasagna or ravioli.
I make a terrific cheesecake and the recipe is available for all who ask!
Calling all good cooks!
I'd like that recipe!! I LOVE cheesecake.
I BBQ ribs every T-Giving....ribs, Pumpkin Pie and Football...
That photo is a riot.
Certainly not a Tyson turkey.
DELUXE CHEESECAKE
20 servings
Begin early in the day or a day ahead
Pastry:
1 ½ sleeves of graham crackers (most of a one pound box), crushed
2 sticks of butter, melted and cooled
¼ C sugar
Grated peel of one small lemon
Filling:
5 8-ounce packages cream cheese, softened
1 ¾ C sugar
5 large eggs
¼ C milk
3 T flour
2 large egg yolks
Grated peel of one small lemon
1. Mix graham crackers with sugar and butter. Press into a 10-inch by 2 ½ springform pan.
2. Preheat oven to 475 degrees.
3. In a large bowl, with mixer at medium speed, beat cream cheese just until smooth; slowly beat in sugar, scraping bowl often with rubber spatula. Add eggs, milk, flour, egg yolks, and lemon peel; beat 5 minutes, occasionally scraping bowl.
4. Place baking sheet on lower rack. Bake cheesecake on middle rack 12 minutes. Turn oven control to 300 degrees; bake 35 minutes longer. Turn off oven; let cheesecake remain in oven 30 minutes.
5. Remove cheesecake from oven; cool completely in pan on wire rack. Cover and refrigerate at least 4 hours or until well chilled.
6. When cheesecake is firm, with spatula, loosen pan side from cheesecake and remove; loosen cake from pan bottom; slide onto serving plate.
"Who's Cooking"
Yes, who's cooking? And please post maps, directions and serving times.
My daughter is making dinner this year.......waaaaaahooooo, although I am making the stuffing.
Fun thread! let's get some expert advice!
I've already started ----
Cranberry sauce done --Check!
Pie crusts made and in freezer -- Check!
Great post, Larry
THANK YOU! This looks soooooooooooo good, I think I may make it when I won't have company!! ;) My skinny daughter can eat 1/2 a cheesecake herself.
I've already got the EPA disposal permit for all the grease a goose sheds when you cook it.
We will no doubt do our turkey on the barbeque again -- but the wife now has a diagnosed soy allergy, so I don't know if we will hjave our traditional tofu pumpkin pie (not as sweet as the custard pie y'all are used to, but thoroughly enjoyable!).
OMG, this thread is making me hungry!
It is the best! I have had many, many requests for it. Let your skinny daughter eat the whole thing and make one for the rest of the crowd! Danger though, if you have it around without a crowd. See your hips widen.
Happy Thanksgiving!
My Mom add a can of cream corn to her cornbread recipe; really delicious!!!! Cannot wait for a piece.
Same here. I do a lot of the prep on Wednesday night which just leaves the goose and a few of the sides to prepare for Thursday.
