I was at the grocery this morning. Toys for Tots were collecting new and unwrapped toys in the parking lot. They were getting a great response. As I walked by, an older man pulled up in a full sized pick-up with the bed just loaded with toys...bicycles, stereos, scooters. I paused to watch the folks begin to unload his truck. When they begin thanking him he said "oh, I live alone and don't have a single person to shop for, either, so I just want to give to the kiddies". I came very close to asking him to my home for Christmas, but I didn't know how hubby would feel.
To: Conservababe
Great story. You should have asked him.
Cheers up there.

Great Pics Grannie,
Reminds me what it is like being on the shore. I'm so far away from that in the mountains here...

Rememories? You coin the best words, Resty. I love it.
I'm doing the sugar cookie baking for the "painting" tomorrow. The grandkids say they are painting them instead of decorating them. This year, the four year old is worried to death because we have a fireplace here and he doesn't at home. As in...how is Santa going to come if we don't have a chimney? Last night he opened up the glass doors to the fireplace and had his neck craned up to have a look. LOL
To: Conservababe; restornu
Rememories is a word I first saw in Toni Morrison's near unreadable Nobel prize winner Beloved .
To: restornu
Amen,
I absolutely hate some cameraman at a breath-taking location, focusing with a zoomed lens, on a babbling moron who wants his whole face in the view, while he describes his intense personal effort to reach the location.
I know it happens but I'd rather go watch I-Love-Lucy when it does.

All day long, the town of Skidmore, Mo was niggling at me. I surely do believe that this is the small town where the folks shot and killed the town bully on Main Street. No one was convicted because no one admitted to seeing or hearing anything. There was even a movie made about the incident. He was just one of those men who needed killing, I guess.

Been a hard day for me It got a lot worse..When I shut the puter down and went to get up out of this chair I ended up on the floor. Couldn't get back up....
Couldn't even get on my hands and knees. So had a he!! of a time getting to a phone....Called my daughter and rousted her out of bed....She came over, but wasn't strong enough to get me on my feet....
So we ended up calling 911...The Fire Dept. came out and two firemen got me up and going....I was put to bed and the daughter slept on the couch for the rest of the night....
I seem to be okay for now..At least I can get out of the chair....lol

Dang - watch it up there, Westy.
What I do not need are any more broken hips or bones to worry about.
