I think you have a "weird" magnet embedded under your skin.
Why switch from electric to gas? Just curious.
I skipped the icicle lights this year .. I'm getting too old to be climbing up the ladder
California's electric rates are the highest in the nation. Using gas wherever possible lowers the energy bill. I noticed a drop in our bill when I started cooking with gas, rather than electric. We have a gas water heater and a gas furnace, as well.
I have zero decorations outside. Thought about getting some of those lighted reindeer. So far, it hasn't worked out. Priorities and all.
Between work and Dawn & Tyler coming in ... you've been very busy
Have ya hit the wall yet or do you still have a bit of engergy left?
I picked up those raindeer at Walmart .. they had the best price around here
If I'd known your addy, I'd have done a drive-by on that Frosty. ;-)
Great yob, Mo - you're getting there.
Cheers.
Everything in my house is electric .. and the monthly bills during certain times of the year can put me close to backruptcy
My mother's house is gas and I sure do miss cooking on a gas stove .. electric is just not the same
I kinda figured that was it. This place is the first place I've lived where nothing is gas, or even propane. It is all electric. I think my highest bill so far is $88, although it might have gotten a little higher than that with the AC. And this is a pretty good sized place.
I'm tired and trying to psyche myself up for the coming week at work. A lot of stuff didn't get done last week and I'm kinda dreading it for that reason. Couldn't be helped. But we are getting busier all the time, with more kids and families to deal with, but no more resources than before. That makes it really tough. I really wish we'd have a lull. It has been absolutely insane.
I miss having a gas stove, too. In Colorado, everybody had gas, pretty much. Here, it's rare. I'm pleasantly surprised that the electric bill hasn't been higher than it has. I keep looking for the catch.
You can only get done what you can get done.
I don't know if it's the same where you work .. but when I worked ... christmas time was always crazy .. everyone trying to get things completed before the end of the year
Thaks Loddy .. all we need now is snow
The weather is suppose to get really cold this week ... but no signs of any snow though
Which is good .. I don't need Mike playing around with the snow blower
This is a very generous community, and many businesses and organizations have called wanting to adopt a family or just to give where it is needed, so I look forward to being able to deliver Christmas gifts to my families. It will be nice to be a part of making their Christmases a little brighter. There are those you don't even want to mess with because of how they are, but then you think, that isn't the children's fault. But it's hard to make the call. One of the other workers told me that some of these people get nice things for the children for Christmas and take them to Walmart as "returns" and get the money. Then there are others who "expect" it.
They're not all like that though. Besides the bad cases, there are also a fair number who are decent people with poor coping and parenting skills and who try to do the best they can with what they have, and those people really appreciate the support from the community.
.....Westy.....
And you didn't offer to help me clean the house???
Just kidding
But I'm not kidding when I say ... Girls can be complete slobs .... grrrrr
Sweet Dreams Westie
That is just so sad and something I don't think I will ever be able to understand how anyone ... especially a parent could let that happen to their kids.
Growing up we were poor and didn't have much .. always wore hand me downs .. and that is if we had them .. but mom also did the best she could for us.
She didn't even drink because a friend of hers once made a comment that with all that mom went through and all the stress she had to deal with, she was surprised mom didn't drink her troubles away .. because of that mom was afraid to ever drink anything stronger then coffee.
I don't understand it either, Mo. I think a lot of it can be attributed to children who weren't parented having children, so they don't have the first clue what committment and sacrifice are about. To be fair, how are they supposed to give their children what they've never had themselves. They are empty vessels. They have nothing to give. I also blame quick and easy divorce and interchangeable relationships and I blame the elimination of God and the teaching of standards for right and wrong behavior.
I agree ... it's just a sad story all around
