Well, its a thought. But, wouldn't frequent flyers build up their lifetime rad limit quickly with this technology?
That whole airport security/do not profile thing really p*sses me off, and I'm sure the Islamonazis are getting lots of laugh over it at our expense. I'm absolutely dreading Dawn and Tyler having to fly over the holidays. Women should not be subjected to these guys groping them just because they can, all in the name of security, of course, as a dozen swarthy types are waved through unmolested. It makes me even madder to think that a 7 year old child could be subjected to a strip search. Let's not forget that these are the same government geniuses who confiscated GI Joe's gun from a toddler a couple of years back. It's a power trip. That's all I can figure, and it makes me sick and angry. There is no excuse for the way our citizens are subjected to humiliation because these morons can't dare be politically incorrect.
My guess is that we don't really want to know....or to fly, for that matter.
Oh yeah; I'd feel safer too....from psychotic grannies with a bone to pick, but is that really a big problem? As long as we aren't targeting the ones that are actually CAUSING the problems (read mideastern Muslims), then it's pretty hard to take this whole security thing seriously. I'll stay off the planes, thanks just the same.
No, it is not the kind that goes through you. It just bounces off.
Very effective, but some people take it personally.
It is like the case of the patients in Washington DC taking the heart monitor stress tests where the doctors inject Trace amounts of thorium to watch the blood flow?
Then the radiation sensors in the highway tunnels pick up the residual radiation and the highway patrol pulls them over... Weird but true.
Now, if you want to get something like that through, you have to get an Islamic mideastern male to carry it for you.
ROTFL! It's so sick it's almost funny. Not. If I weren't required to travel for business to Austin in January or risk losing my job, I wouldn't be. We are not allowed to take the train or drive.
Not in this case. It is d*mned offensive is what it is.
You have probably heard this story before too - how my brother, 6'3", blond and blue eyes, was coming back in his Marines uniform from Afghanistan. One way ticket. Hassled and bothered. Meanwhile, all the Mideast Muslims, aged 20 - 40, got royal treatment the whole way - and were able to jam up my brother's row every hour to kneel down and pray.

On the way back from Baja..
.....Westy.....
Ahhhh, just missed you by a year. I left at the end of July 1991 to move to Tucson.
I'll tell you what's damned offensive,
My daughter works as the Lab supervisor of a medium sized university here, and she has to monitor-- remotely-- what people are doing on any of the hundreds of computers in 5 rooms.
When she spots a porn-surfer she has to catch them, confront them, get the student ID, and suspend the account--if the ID is not stolen.
You try that for a tall order. It is a regular prank to steal account info, go to the lab, and porn surf, then flee if it looks like someone is onto you.
Nuts.... Huh?
We are not allowed to take the train or drive.

WTF?
Can you go Greyhound?
Education Reform Legendary teacher and reformer John Taylor Gatto presented a scathing critique of our compulsory education system. He told how in 1991 when he won the award of New York's Teacher of the Year, he audaciously quit the profession, saying that he could no longer abide by the faulty structure. Education Reform
That is something we have in common looking at food!:)
Yes, I have heard of this. But, are you saying that the folks who are pulled over are irate? If so, why? All they have to do is carry a note from their physician that can be verified by security.
Hmmmm...why am I suddenly thinking of spiders and webs? LOL
Expect much more intrusive information gathering after the Silver Fox, former head of the East German Stassi, gets things going on for Homeland Security here.
A few months back when I flew from Houston to DesMoines, I decided to use one of those Park&Ride companies that have sheltered parking and plunk you down at the proper terminal. They had added a magical new wrinkle since my last trip: my bags could be checked through, right there by only swiping any of my credit cards, or my driver license, through their terminal - unbelievable the amount of information that popped up on the screen: full name, home address and telephone number, and my travel information. All that was left was to enter the number of bags to be checked.
Nope. And, even funnier, I think I told you more than three of us are not allowed on the same flight for "security reasons". Don't know if it's because we tech writers might jab someone with a pen or because our manager is scared she might lose the entire department.
