"Given that someone who would murder their own baby before it's even born isn't as likely to be a good parent"

I suspect that had it been an option, many of us would have never seen the light of day and the same might have been said of our parents. But then, killing us wasn't an option, and even the worst parents knew that. There was an ethic about raising children then. You made the best of it. Lots of children weren't planned for. I know I wasn't. But most parents at least accepted the responsibility for the life they had created, or gave the children up for adoption. This awful mother of these 4 children I've been talking about said that one of the baby's fathers offered to pay for an abortion but she wouldn't do it because she didn't believe in it. Not believing in killing her children before birth has certainly done nothing for the quality of her parenting since birth though.

"plus there is the fact Carly is scared to death of people .. especially large crowds of people."

Now there's the one that inherited the southern redneck gene. A woman after my own heart. Mike should be proud. Put that girl in some bib overalls and a straw hat and she'd be right at home down here.

"but it's a pain in the butt to get her to socialize at family get togethers"

From the stories I hear of some of your relatives, that could be a good thing.

"She always runs and hides in the basement"

Lord have mercy! Don't take her to Nully's place!

Seriously though, some kids get overstimulated in groups of people because they have a sensual hypersensitivity that is almost palpable. I wouldn't make an issue of it, but I don't think I'd take her to DC either.

Yes, but on the average I think those who want to carry a baby to term make better parents than those who want to murder them before they are born.

There are lots of good mothers that at one point in their lives had abortions, and lots of bad parents (Lord don't YOU know that!) that would never consider an abortion.

Lots of blurring of the lines...

OK .. I don't get that

I've always found southerns to be such friendly folks

Up here you could be on the ground dying and most folks would walk right past you and not bother to help
