Why, hello ladies! Thanks for askin'! Nope, we won't be having Thanksgiving at my house this year, we're going over to my husband's sister's motherinlaw's home. I called to ask her what I could bring, and she really didn't need any food, so asked for dessert wine. I can handle that.

It's just as well - we've had a minor disaster with the carpet in the dining room, and it's not going to get fixed for a little bit yet. We're ripping it up and putting in rosewood floors in the dining room and living room, but that installation isn't actually going to begin until January.

The appliance installation in the kitchen has been done for several months, but it's taken awhile to get our friend, who's doing to the cabinet work, to get the reconfiguration of the cabinets done. Now that it is done, I can get some bids for the granite counter tops. Because we had to do some cutting and ripping of the original tile counter tops where the cook top was located in order to put in the slide-in range, there is some ugliness there that won't be fixed until we get the new counter tops. And backsplashes. I found a place in Danville that has wonderful products and designs for backsplashes.

This week I'm order plantation shutters for the living room and dining room so I can finally tear down the horrendously hideous drapes that were there when we moved in. Did I mention that they're ugly? And, they attrack cat hair like you wouldn't believe. At least shutters will be easier to clean.

Hubby has put in our winter vegetable garden, and everything is growing well. We've had sunny days in the 60's, but not much rain, so we've had to water. I've got some bulbs to get into the ground this week - things like narcissus, daffodils, and crocus. The tulip bulbs have been in the refrigerator long enough now that I can plant them. It doesn't get cold enough here to plant tulips without having them spend a couple of months in the refrigerator first!

Plastic Plants?

Yes.. very much so..unless we add more to it. We already asked for Areca Palms on both sides for privacy.

hummm, yes, they should do well in a screened area but watering for any of them while gran is away is a challenge.... they couldn't be in the sheltered loggia area, they'd have to be out where the rain and humidity could help them survive. Sagos are a bit hardier.

I'm not a usual advocate of this, but some of the silk stuff looks so real, now.

The first Spring parties I have, before my stuff gets going, I use artificial silk blooms. It's really cheating, but works. I use long, huge Wisteria stalks, Forsethia stalks, etc. Wire them to the real thing, keep them back from where people are sitting, and it truly helps fill things in during parties. The possibilities are endless.:)

Of course it all must come down after the party, but looks nice during. :) You wouldn't want alot of people seeing it in the daytime. :)

Yes..Swerv. Some of the renters use the artificial ones. You know what I might try? Buy the suckers in the pots, put them around the pool while we're here and then put them out in the yard for the summer. Hell it rains all summer. Only thing is.. I couldn't let them be flying objects in case of a storm, you know?

Will work on it..lol.

Ringy, gran says her back yard area will look very much like the yards across the canal that we can see in the photo she just posted. Thank goodness for photos and the internet. LOL Isn't that going to look great ?

gran, you're gonna be in heaven planning and playing with this house. :)

No.. we are on the south east of the Cape in this house, this new one is in the north west of the Cape. We will be closer to St. James City, Sanibel and Captiva over there. Over here we came right out on the river.

A little different for boating, but it will be nice.. We are close to what is called the spreader canal. It is a nature preserve and can only be built on, on one side..

You will love those rosewood floors. I have a friend who has them.

The kitchen is going well. Glad you don't have to use it this year. :) You deserve a break.

What are you thinking of for your back splash?

Have you seen the pictures of Grans new house?

Hey.....I specifically said no lap dances.

What kind of no don't you understand?

Was that a line from something? What was the middle thing again?
