as far as pots go I wish I could have pots around the deck but how to take care of them in the summer?

Yes..Swerv. Some of the renters use the artificial ones. You know what I might try? Buy the suckers in the pots, put them around the pool while we're here and then put them out in the yard for the summer. Hell it rains all summer. Only thing is.. I couldn't let them be flying objects in case of a storm, you know?
