I hate "having trouble with (fill in the blank)" threads.
The obvious solution is to buy another ten pack of Bic pens (same kind), and use the cap from a new pen with the sentimental (?) one. Carefully make do with nine caps and ten pens from the new pack.
I can't believe I wasted 65 seconds of my life responding to this.
