The Who teaming up for new album
Townsend is writing his autobiography
The two surviving members of The Who are planning to record a new album under the working title Who2.
Pete Townshend said on his website that he and Roger Daltrey were recording in December for a possible spring release.
"If the recording works out we will tour with the usual band in the first half of 2005," wrote Townshend.
Townshend is also working on his autobiography, started in the wake of his police caution for accessing child pornography websites.
"My autobiography now offers me the chance to lay down my life story and place recent events in proper context," he said.
"I have had a long and lumbering life -- this book will take time."
Townshend and Daltrey have been working on new material since 2002 and released several songs on the Geffen compilation Then and Now.
Original Who member John Entwistle died in Las Vegas on the eve of The Who's US tour in 2002.
It should be WHO 1/2
It was after Gabriel left but right before Hackett left and "Then There were Three", which catapulted the Phil Collins Genesis into pop stardom. Seconds Out was done after two solid years of touring, and well it's an excellent artifact of a band that became a much better live band than a studio band. The older gabriel genesis songs have a much different sound than the originals, harder edge more like rock anthems.
Yeah musical taste is subjective. I do prefer the "spacey" art rock of Gabriel to the very popular Phil Collins pop stylings. Along the same lines I've always like Floyd's "Dark side of the Moon" better than "The Wall", and that's probably why I dig Smashing Pumpkins as well. ;-)
OMG! Has anyone seen Jerry Mathers lately? "....With Hugh Beaumont....Barbara Billingley.....Tony Dow.....and Paul McCartney as....The Beaver!"
The music and lyrics weren't that great to begin with. No, it won't work.
my band does "Won't Get Fooled Again"
BTTT!
As for the rest of list, I'd probably agree with the exception of "The Wall." I'm a huge fan of "Dark Side of the Moon" and "Wish You Were Here," but "The Wall" never quite connected with me. But "Zen Arcade," there's one I hadn't thought about in a while. And it calls to mind Sonic Youth's "Daydream Nation," another double.
My friend's band does Substitute and Pictures Of Lily (as well as The Kids Are Alright, I think they retired My Generation).
U.S. Forces Capture 12 Wanted Iraqis, And The Beaver By Steve Tanner
September 04, 2003
BAGHDAD - U.S. Troops conducted a raid Wednesday that lead to the arrest of 13 wanted Iraqis. Authorities say 4 of the arrested may be doubles the ex-dictator used in several public appearances. Sources have revealed one of the doubles may be actor Jerry Mathers, television's Beaver.U.S. officials have yet to confirm the rumor, but have released a photo taken at the time of booking. The authenticity of the photo is still under scrutiny.
Jamie Barto, theatrical agent for Mr. Mathers, has only confirmed the actor is working on a project overseas. He added it has been very difficult for Mathers to find work within the states. Monster truck shows do not pay what they use to.
Mathers had denied previous accusation of allegiance to the ousted dictator. Although did admit to having a childhood friendship which began during the early episodes of Leave it to Beaver when Saddam was cast as the original 'Lumpy'.
If you enjoyed this satire by Steve Tanner, you can see more of his work at Broken Newz.
The resemblance is eerie, isn't it?
