At the same time, let's go on the offensive. The neocommunists seem to have limited the use of "liberal" and seem to prefer "progressive." In our usage, lnk the left wing labels together and never use the word "democrat" without several perjorative modifiers. Words like "liberal," "progressive," "radical," "left-wing," tax & spend," or "elitist" can all be chained together EVERY time the word "democrat" is used. Of course, we can also couch modifers in string terms, such as "pro-abortion," "baby murdering," UN-loving," "anti-religious," "godless" and then "ultra" and then, "radical," liberal," "left-wing" and so on. LET'S NOT LET THEM "LANGUAGE" US INTO A CORNER!

No one is going to fall for their malarky anymore. The democrat media has been outed and can no longer pretend to be impartial.

Absolutely essential!

We conservatives - with a live and let live persona - tend to back off after winning a battle and leave the field to the defeated.

NOT the thing to do.

We must bring to light that the "so-called" democratic party has been high jacked, systematically and with malice aforethought, by the "Democratic Socialist Party" (and oxymoron, but designed to water down the word SOCIALIST).

There is still a segment of Old time democrats (like Zell) ... many don't realize their party has been overrun.

This is a good opportunity to get the word out. It can split off the real dems from the socialist wing - That would be a good thing for all, and would definitely put them in a minority for decades to come.

I would seem we have to battle these socialist here every 30 years or so...Beat em down and back they come.

But if we beat them down this time - while their agenda is bald-faced hanging out for all to see - and just maybe we wont have to worry about them again, as the rest of the countries who went socialist are waking up to the fact that: It doesn't work in reality.

I agree. The power of words is enormous. We must not allow the enemy to define us.

I like the term that was recently coined (here on FR?)--"secular fundamentalist".

You make a good point. i have been concerned about the Dems trying to overuse the word progressive as their new name. It a liberal either way but I would like to hear some Repubs start saying that over and over so it sticks.

You are right the left has been more proficient in creating buzzword concepts...of course they do have MSM to spread their kant.

"homophobe" is a good example, it immediately sets one in a defensive rhetorical position if one accepts it (all of the lefts buzzwords are designed to steal the rhetorical high ground before an argument has been made).

As one who lives in San Francisco (and yes you are right about SF, they are absolutely ad hominum demeaning to anyone who does not agree with them - believe me I know!!)- I reject "homophobe", I have no phobia regarding these people, they do not frighten me. But the left wants to create the immediately unequal ground for argument where you are a person reacting out of fear not reason.

"No," I say, "Rather I have a negative tropism toward homosexuality, I tend to lean away from it's presence."
That is a matter of taste and judgement on my part, not fear.

we won't. linguistic distinctions are essential and must be honored.

"discrimination" is actually a desireable trait.
and "gay" is something most FReepers would want to be.

"The lefties have always done a much better job of manipulating and using the language."

BULLCRAP!

They never have and never will have anything on the Right.

The belief that mindless Regressives are better than us in any fasion is only because you accept it.

The left is awesome at this. They define the terms, then define the debate, and leave us trying to defend ourselves. They do it over and over.

Using the same tactic on them ("flip-floper") was pretty successful during the election!

Language is meaningless without genuine intent behind it. One of the reasons our Prime Minister prefers President Bush is precisely because there is unity between the President's words and actions. The left has excessive verbiage, but no will to action - hence their penchant for talking things to death. They may talk and talk and talk and try to paint Republicans into a linguistic corner, but when all is said and done, President Bush wins by 3 million votes, Daschle is gone, and the Democrats are weakened. It seems the more they speak, the better off we are. ;)

Regards, Ivan

Couldn't agree more. Noticed that the Liberals are now calling illegal aliens "immigrants" thereby erasing the distinction between the criminal and the law abiding.

The big push now is to call themselves "progressive" since according to them - the "right-wing" (sorry) "extreme right-wing" has demonized the word.

Changing language gives them the power to define the debate and redefine reality. If you are against homosexual language (something I never heard of until about 5 years ago) you are a homophobe. Believe in strict construction like almost every great Jurist before Earl Warren you are a Right-wing extremist. (see Scalia and Thomas)
