Anyone else here using the Firefox browser and, if so, what are your impressions of it?
I understand liquor is quicker.
Any comparisons with Opera?
I've been using Opera since IE6 crapped out on me - like it better than IE (faster) but has a couple incompatibilities.
That has been my experience as well.
I have no idea what that is.
Move your cursor to the numbered reply, like #24, click on the righ mouse button, look at the drop down menu and select open in new tab and see what happens.....

I like it so far. There are some web pages that won't work with it, and sometimes I have difficulty when I download plug-ins but it still says I don't have them (but other times recognizes the same plug-ins). For example, windows media is hit or miss. I also thought Firefox was supposed to have a built-in feature that would fill in forms automatically (kind of like Gator), but I haven't found it.
But I like the tabs. I like the lack of pop-ups. I like the security (no viruses since I got it). And I like the special features, like the built-in Bug Me Not when I want to access news sites.
I've had a couple of issues with the tabs that I'm now thinking (after updating to 1.0) that 1.0 may have solved. However, the lack of support for ActiveX (or something) is causing problems on a few sites and I must open IE.
I'm not sure what benefit FF has to those who routinely need to go to sites that use AX, so I think they need to figure out a way to incorporate it.
What the HECK are you talking about? Firefox has had that ability for a long time now.
Firefox Ping
Been using it for quite some time (though I have not gone to 1.0 yet).
Great browser, small quick and lot of features.
Once you go Tab you will never go back.
PROS:
Popup blocker
ad blocker extension
View with IE extension
Different themes (skins) and extensions (with caveats)
CONS:
Java a crash prone mess, and uninstalling it breaks the JVM that comes with Windows (the blame of Sun/Java, not Mozilla).
Saving web pages is generally useless. No way to save .mhts, and saving doesnt even save the title of a page, something they should have fixed in all these years. Saving as text only leaves a mess similar to a Freep thread without paragraph tags.
Extensions and themes are nice, but useless every time a new and improved version of FF comes out. You generally always have to round up the latest, and hope the writer hasnt given up in disgust over having to update their work every other day. (Some worked in 1.0rc even though they werent supposed to. With the official 1.0 version, youre screwed). Finding themes and extensions isnt easy because Mozilla stuff is spread in various places.
The cache has absolutely no protection, and any Firefox crash obliterates it, very irritating for dialup users. Its been like this since at least 0.8 (the version I started with).
I love it and am running 1.0.
Isn't that the major security problem with IE6?
I would prefer that they didn't!!!!
What's the difference between Firefox & Netscape?
Netscape has tabbed browsing, pop-up blocker, spam filter etc. I do have a big problem w/ spyware though.
See this:
It loads a little bit slow initially, but runs well and is much more secure than Ms's offering. The tabbed browsing is nice and the built-in pop-up blocker is good, too.
