When I was in Del Rio three years ago, I had a choice of 5 Norteno stations, 1 Classic Rock station that played Freebird 6 times in two hours (!) and National Public Radio. That had to be the worst choice of stations I have ever been faced with.
I don't know why there can't be a good mix of stations --- instead of 5 norteno stations that all play the same thing --- why not 1 good new rock, 1 good old rock, 1 hip hop, 1 new country, 1 old country, 1 norteno station. Then everyone has something to listen to.
Maybe it's like someone pointed out earlier --- everyone who can is going with XM radio where they have real choices and FM is going the way of AM. Even here AM went to the Mexicans a while back --- no one listens to AM anymore except for 2 talk stations.
