I put my headphones on...whether listening to music or not...it's the only thing that stops the peanut gallery from their idle complaining chatter.

Just the opposite here. The minute I put them on is when they want a converstaion. It could be dead silence for hours...plop headphones on and you'd swear I was a long lost relative who just returned home. LOL
